New Games at Brantford

Sounds like Brantford will be revamping their poker room. Does anyone know if they will be introducing NL or any different types of poker.

  • You seem to know the most.
  • The poker room WILL be moving to a different part of the casino, but there may continue to be no NLHE cash games because some think that it will kill the limit games.
  • Oh man

I'm sure this is just a rumour, but I think I just got an erection thinking about BCC with Omaha games...

Only if Mario is close by...
  • Chances for Omaha - 0.01% They would have been discussing training with the dealers already, and somebody would have chirped.

NL is not likely unless they add a significant number of tables and dealers. The poker room manager is a poker guy though, so he may be pushing for it. There is still some regulatory hurdles. The exemption for tournaments does not apply here because tournament chips don't count as real $ bets.

They are quite happy with the revenue from LHE and I don't see NL in the near future here.

Last I heard, the room is moving to the other end of the casino, close to the smoking deck, but farthest away from the escalators. Lots of chances to stop and play table games on your way out, plus they will be able to get rid of the poker cage (and an employee).
  • Back to where it was before. I always wondered why they moved it in the first place.

At the time, they still had other table games back there. It used to be the 'Asian pit' with mini-bac, pai-gow and sic-bo. It made sense to move poker to where it could be exclusive.

There's been only slots back there for a while so they can re-purpose the entire area for poker. One hopes they won't keep any slots there. Nothing more annoying than the constant noise from the machines near the poker room.

If they get NL I hope it would be real NL and not that capped crap that they have in the Soo.

I hope they don't. It's nice having a cage just for the poker players :)

I believe the so called 'olg' casino's are regulated to $100 max bet. Thus, brantford would be forced to have the 1-100 spread game. But no chance for brantford changing its game, limit still rules the day.

As for the back room, if they haven't changed the height of the ceiling, it gets hot as hell.

Quick story from the early days in brantford. If you didn't arrive by 9 a.m., you'd be waiting 3 or more hours depending. Anyhow, one day I am playing 20-40 and seats 3, 4, and 6 (yes, I remember the three seats even though it was like 5 years ago) saw the flop on EVERY hand for 6 hours and the thing is, none of the 3 knew each other. It didn't matter if it was capped or raised or a limp, the 3 donks who happened to show up at the same table played every hand. Probably the best 20-40 game I ever sat at...
  • I hope they don't get NL ever because NL kills limit at those charity casinos, I've seen it happen at Pt. Edward.
  • The ceiling in the back end is as high as the rest of the casino. That tiny area they were using for their first 4 hold'em tables won't be used. I think they are planning on going up to 20 tables, and they will use the whole area from the right side of the cage all the way to the back.
