Niagara Falls Trip Report
Booked one night at the Hilton in Niagara Falls, directly across from Fallsview through Travelzoo deal. $129. The Hilton has a nice pool with a waterslide for the kiddies and nice hottub/steam room/sauna facilities for the adults. Waterslide opens at 4pm Mon-Fri.
The deal included valet parking $20, dinner coupon at Watermark restaurant $50, breakfast coupon at Watermark $40 and free tickets to Bird Kingdom, near Casino Niagara, value unknown.
Checked in early yesterday and hit the pool. Kid had a great time zooming down the waterslide. Made dinner reservations for 6pm. There is a 3 course $79 dinner for two. Wife had chicken breast stuffed with brie, Caesar salad and baked apple dumpling with cinnamon ice cream for dessert. I had lentil soup with sausage, mushroom risotto and creme brulee. The kid had a huge cheese pizza for $9.99. The food was excellent. The service was great and extremely professional and the restaurant itself is very beautiful with tiered seating affording excellent views of both falls. A very romantic setting for sure. Dinner with tax and tip, no alcohol came to $126 and then they take the $50 coupon off the total so an excellent meal at a great price.
After dinner we decided to take a closer look at the falls since it was quite foggy and hard to see from the restaurant. Even though my instincts told me to avoid Fallsview I took the only bad beat of the trip because they let you walk the entire length of the shopping area, head downstairs and actually go out the back of the casino building before they inform you that the outside walking area is closed for the winter.
The next day we had the breakfast buffet back upstairs at the Watermark. This time there was no fog and we had a great view of the falls. The food was decent enough. Great fruit and great omelets. Kids were free. Afterwards we headed out for the Bird Kingdom. The tour starts off slow but in the end it is a really great bird sanctuary with lots of displays and close access to all the birds. My kid loved it and had a great time running around interacting with all the birds. For $2 you can feed the parakeets which is really great. The birds land all over you trying to get the food. My son had 3 birds on each arm, a bird on each shoulder and even a bird on his head. It was his favourite part. Afterwards we went to the IMAX theatre with 1/2 price tickets that were also purchased at the hotel. Note they never ask you from room keys or anything so I assume you could just walk into the hotel and go to the tour desk on your own.
All in all a great couple days away.

j/k sounds like a great family outing and I appreciate the TR. My wife actually emailed me this exact same deal today.
Thanks for the positive review on the eatery too. I always seem to get the most god awful service when I eat in the falls. I am about 75-0 lifetime for great meals with great service at the Keg and 75-4 when you include the Niagara Falls Keg. The worst part is they jack the prices there too.
subliminal poker post, nice try!
Mama Mias, never go wrong.
Last time I was in the falls with my GF (2 years ago) I think I had the worst restaurant service of my entire life at Wolfgang Puck's (sp?) craphole.
That the restaurant at the top of the Hilton? If so, the prime rib there is awesome.
food was pretty crappy and overpriced.... i guess your paying for the view!
stp
That sounds soooo good!

It can be a problem if you don't chew properly........:)
..at least that's how I read and visualized it.
I've never met 13cards and mean no offense but, EWWWWWWWW!
I made the reference in terms of passing an anal retentive floor person being easier if you chew properly......ah nevermind.
But now that I think about it, if I did I'm sure I'd find "Please Play Again" tatooed around his sphincter.
there's an 'in the muck' joke there.
bums are funny!
