UFC 94 Trip Report

Well, my bankroll and I survived the hit and run trip to Vegas for UFC 94 at the end of January.

The trip got off to a terrible start when our flight was delayed a total of 4 hours, with the last 2 being spent sitting on the runway! Arrived in Vegas and began playing cards at 3 am Saturday morning. Played 1-2NL at MGM until about 8 am, then headed to the IP to cash some sports bet tickets for a buddy. Played some 2-4LHE while my other buddy played 1-2 NL. By this time we are absolutley wrecked. What better time to head to Binions to check out the new (not sure how newly renovated) room and play some 1-2 NL. Only 2 tables going, played for ~1 hour then headed to the Golden Nugget. Here is where it gets interesting. My buddy and I are even more than absolutely wrecked and it is about 11am Saturday morning. We both get placed at the same 1-2 NL table side-by-side. Great table lots of laughs etc. All of a sudden somebody at the table points out my buddy isn't there anymore. I check the bathrooms and the craps tables...no where in sight. I go back and play 'til around noon...still no buddy. I call and text him...nothing. I resume playing after the pit boss and I agree to pull his chips off the table to allow someone else to play his seat. Suddenly I look at my watch and it is 3 pm Saturday-the doors open and undercard fights begin at around 4:15. I am loaded and have not slept in a long time. I cash out my chips, retrieve my buddy's chips as well and catch a shuttle to the strip. I crash at 3:30 after requesting a wake-up call at 4 pm. I sleep through the wake up call and awake with racing heart to see the time is 5:15. I change shirts, brush my teeth and race to the venue. Get to our seats and the other guys are all there. Turns out my missing friend spent a few hours in the drunk tank! He is pretty hazy on details but upon his release he had a 2 hour walk/stumble/jog back to the strip to make the fights. Witnessed an extreme asskicking of BJ by GSP and then went to the Luxor to play some 1-2 NL. Only lasted a few hours and then was down for the count. Played some ponies and then more 1-2 NL and 4-8 LHE at MGM Sunday afternoon and then flew home Sunday night!

Ended up ahead a few hundred for the trip playing poker. I played really well, even when loaded haha. My worst session was actually Sunday afternoon at a table where many pots were open raised to $12-$15 which I found excessive for 1-2 NL. Also I overplayed AK soooooted sooooo badly and then got sucked out on a few times that I got broke so I decided to switch back to LHE and pass the rest of the time sitting on my winnings and earning comps for the summer time when we go back.

Just got tickets for UFC 97 in April in Montreal-does casino Montreal have poker?

  • I have never loathed anyone the way I do you. Lucky bastard . . .:D
  • Nice. What seats did you get at 94 and how much did it cost you?
  • We got our tickets for $200 USD, second level but great sight lines. Able to watch most of the fights in the actual Octagon, with only brief glances at the Jumbotron screens.

We just got better seats for Montreal today when the Ticketmaster general public sale went on as well. $225 for the 100 level.

Not really, they have electronic tables.

Too bad the BJ GSP fight wasn't a bit more even, I still have to make it to a live event.
  • Lets hope the fights STAY in Montreal . . .
