What are you guys making live these days?

Wondering what all you live players are making per hour and per month and different cash games these days...haven't heard any numbers quoted in while.

Since the move is Sept:

1 2 NL $35/h

2 5 NL $45/h

Overall making about 3k a month, trying to put in some more hours at 2 5 but games have been sparse lately and I'm playing terribly/bored at 1 2...yay economy!

  • Srry this doesn't respond to your question but what casino/casinos are you playing at mainly?
  • I went to pokertracking.com to retrieve my stats, but the Waterloo-based site seems to be gone yet again. :'( From what I remember, my 2/5 NLHE is half of yours and my 5/5 is higher (less sessions). My tournament win rate (both live & online) is even higher ever since I got rid of my tin foil hat in December and finally took a serious shot online.

    Grey Eagle and Stampede (Calgary)

based on what I see at the cash games, I think you are an exception. These rates seem really high to me, especially for 1/2. For your 1/2 sessions, how many have been positive vs negative sessions? have you had any really negative periods for an extended duration when calculating these hourly rates?

If this is average, I am definitely doing something wrong.
  • It's the average over 4 months of play in Calgary (I took Dec off from live play) -- the 1 2 games allow a $300 max buy-in here so play a bit bigger than 200max games. 2 5 is $1000 max so the same.

I play lots of pots when the stacks are a bit deeper so it allows me to play more later-street poker vs bad players and increases my winrate, but it's a fine line between playing like an idiot (see downswing).

I can tell you that my win rate in a 1 2 non cap deepstack game in Toronto was $50/h over a 2 yr period.

I "won" 65% of my sessions over this period of time and that's pretty consistent with what I've seen in Calgary -- taking a win/loss as anything over/under $50.

Currently on a bad downswing at 1 2 from playing very poorly/tired/bored but that is included in the averages.
  • It seems there were shenanigans and the site has now changed to poker-tracking.com.
I've shared my win rates with GTA Poker. If there is any forumer who has a high win rate for satellites/qualifiers, please PM me to compare notes.

what percentage of your sessions are in the under/over $50 category? so if you exclude your 35% losing sessions, your win rate is quite high. If you are making this kind of money (tax-free) playing cards, why even show up for work? you are doing something right.

    I'll volunteer for that Kristy......

PS No one tell her I'm sunkissed....... :)
  • I don't play live much anymore.... actually don't play a lot now....

But at Rama play 1/2 I'm probably in the 65% range for winning sessions with the average being +300 for 4-5 hours.... Average losing session is around $100 for the same time frame. I play so infrequently now keeping stats seems like a waste.

If I could make $100/h I'd consider not showing up for work, but really poker as a sole source of income would be a very difficult way to live unless I were consistently beating bigger games IMO...at least for me I seem not to be able to handle the swings well enough after many years to rely on poker as a steady source of income. I have enough trouble during downswings as it is without relying on this as a primary source of income...plus I have no idea if I could play well enough without getting bored for 30-40h a week.

    I don't have many sessions that I consider break even...maybe 5%.
  • I think my expectation for hourly rate is too high, which is likely harming my results as I probably play more aggressive near the end of the night trying to achieve this rate; I usually play 4 hours and like to make $200-$300 profit on the night; I should likely aim for $150-$200.
  • I don't have any set goal when I play. I just play my hands/players as well as possible and win/lose whatever amount as a result.
