  • Your min-reraise preflop is equivalent to entering in the chatbox "I have AA". Make a real raise.

    /g2
  • and the flop bet sucks. Really $12 into a $54 pot with 2 flush on the board.

What site you play on? What's your user name? :D
  • 3Bet too small, should have been closer to $40. Flop Bet waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy too small. You gave him better than 5:1 odds with the flush draw and 2 overs.

The rest of the hand played pretty standard.

Question: Are you new to poker or to online poker?
  • So my main error was giving him good pot odds.

I am new to both poker and online.

    Any more advice?

    Thanks

what he said x2 (and prob everyone else on the board)

    welcome

go to much lower stakes so you can learn how to 3bet properly

most of the money should be going in preflop, not on the flop. Pot control will give you a chance to dump this hand on the turn when his flush shows up or get value when it doesnt

that will lead to be able to fold when you make a mistake and get in these situations - instead of getting stubborn and losing your stack throwing bad money after good
  • Ya 2/4NL is not a place to learn, unless you want to learn to go broke. Work your way up from 5c/10c
  • Thanks for the advice everyone.

I am serious about learning and you lot have saved me some money and probably prevented me from becoming disillusioned because of losing.

    Thanks again.

    Paul.

    Paul.

The biggest piece of advice is to realize that 2/4 online plays like 5/10 nl. some of the best play here.

Start with .5/.10, get a good poker tracking software so you can study your results and build a database of all the people you play against so you can learn their tendencies etc.

You won't make big $$$ but you'll learn the fundamentals and strategies of playing online which are different than playing live.

As for the play, what everyone else pretty much said, more pf, more on flop. Have to avoid giving the players odds to chase their flush, if they catch then that's just a beat but you'll make a tonne from the times they chase when it's not in their mathematical advantage to do so.
  • As soon as villian sees the turn card he is not folding....

Also max buy for NL400 next time that will help.
  • if you didn't push on the turn, you probably are not going anywhere with that third ace on the river. pretty hard to fold trip aces even when the flush comes.

Does this mean make sure I have plenty of money to bet to ensure I can control the pot odds?

My understanding of poker terminology is getting there but isn't perfect.

Are you saying this would have become a bad beat for me regardless.
