No, this is not going to be a rant about Gaza. I was just wondering if anyone had read Rolf Slotboom's book on Pot Limit Omaha? I need another tome for the library, and Omaha is next on the list. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Yes, it is interesting, but it is basically a how to guide to shortstacking and it is REALLY out of date by now. A lot of it is also about live games that basically only existed (and maybe still exist) in Europe.

His online stuff is limited, and it is all based on Party Poker from a few years ago, so again probably not very current.

It is a fun read, but not really a guide to Omaha.

A membership to a coaching site that has Omaha videos is considerably more powerful as a learning tool as it uses a ton of hands played in real time and can really emphasize position play, the power of certain draws, hand equity etc which is pretty much not part of the Rolf book.

Note, I am not saying do not buy it, it is still a decent read for thr $15 or whatever it would cost now to get.
  • I've just bought that book and am half way through it.

It's interesting so far. It goes through the thought process of a thinking short stack player.

I've read the Jeff Hwang PLOP book and the sections in Supersystem 2.

I'm thinking about getting the Bob Ciafonne's "Omaha Poker" and the Stewart Reburn "How Good Is Your Pot Limit Omaha" Anyone have any opinion on these. I'm also watching the Deuces Cracked videos.
