Odds and Probabilities
Twice this week I was dealt the same hole cards twice in a row. Intrigued by this, I did some math and calculated that the odds of being dealt the same hand twice in a row is about 1 in 1.7 million.
However the phenomena wasn't hitting a 1 in 1.7 million shot twice in one week...what was most interesting to me was that the cards were dealt to me in the exact same order. After doing some math I calculated that the odds of this was approximately 1 in 7 million.
Could anyone verify or correct this for me?
Thanks,

WHO THE FUCK CARES?
Christmas shopping turns me into a real prick.
Really? That high? I'm sure it's happened to me a few times.
This is a completely asenine post...he's just asking a simple question. I can't believe how people on here just jump on others.
Soooooo......anyhow, I put the numbers in..........the response was:
'ONLY CLIFF CLAVEN NEEDS TO KNOW....IF YOU'RE NOT HIM, WHO FUCK'IN CARES?:D
I laughed
Your calculations are probably correct. I've been dealt the same two cards twice in a row at the same table many times. If only it was AA those times instead of 72o. LOL.
what did you buy me:)
I'm always up for a discussion about absolutely nothing.
The way I look at this question is, if you happened to receive, say, :6d and then :ts last hand - the odds of you being dealt the same cards in the same order on the next hand are:
1 in 52 to hit the same first card and (if you hit the first card) another 1 in 51 to hit the second card = 52x51 = 1 in 2,652.
It's only 1 in 7,033,104 (2,652x2,652) if you name the exact two card combination in order that you have to hit before dealing the first hand. In other words, you'll always be "half way there" to the scenario you've described as there is always a previously dealt last hand ready to be matched.
My answer was 'no I still have to write the cheque, and buy a bottle of booze'
The trick is to have an awesome IDEA to write in the card...that is nearly as good as actually going out and doing it...
2. Prob of getting the second card 1/51
Prob of getting 2 cards in the same order as last time.. 1/52*51
Oh ok, yes I understand now. Thank you very much.
Another forum gave me the answer of 1 in 1326 (depsite the ordering of cards [ 2/52 x 1/51 ] ) and I guess this would also be correct. My refusal of this answer was aided by the dice example. The odds of rolling a 6 with one die is 1/6. The odds of rolling two sixes with two die is not 1/6, but 1/36. So either answer is correct but in craps you throw at the same time and in hold'em you're dealt one at a time. It was the last paragraph in your response that cleared the matter.
Appreciate the response,
Joey
