  • You can borrow my Small Stakes Hold 'em by Sklanksy/Miller/Malmuth aka "Winning Big at Casino Brantford and CNE!" When is your next rake-free game or satellite? There are upcoming tournaments at Point Edward Casino, Great Blue Heron Casino, and the Canadian Poker Tour championship at tax-free Dominican Republic with a $100,000 sponsorship overlay.
  • Small Stakes Hold'em as mentioned.
All you need to crush live LHE.

Winning in Tough Hold'em Games by Stox.
A must read if you play online 6max or very aggressive live shorthanded.

Also Theory of Poker by Sklansky if you haven't read that yet.

Those three should cover you. I haven't read the Ciaffone book, however.
  • I ordered 2 books.

    theory of poker by sklansky
and Holdem poker for advance players I heard great things about those books. thank you for your help. looking for some more great books out there.
  • We can have a satellite or sng thursday night if we have enough interest. Last game at my place for this year.

"10 Steps to Winning Texas Hold 'em" by W. Forbes Cavanagh, Ph.D.

This is a very "math-oriented" approach to the Limit game. The author is a University level stats prof. who has researched the subject for several years. Don't think it's available on Amazon, but you can check it out at
Holdem Strategy Charts - 10 Steps to Winning Texas Hold'em Poker. It's an interesting, if somewhat simplistic, approach.

Meh, I wouldn't buy a book by someone who sells 'wallet sized strategy card'.
I'm sure it would help someone with NO clue about hold'em, but I seriously doubt it will help anyone else.
  • Wow, 25 minutes. I know it's only 50 odd pages, but thats some quick reading, Mike. :D
  • I can also lend you my unread Theory of Poker. IMHO, you shouldn't buy any more books until you have finished reading the free 2+2 books and have started applying them. I have close to ten unfinsihed poker books gathering dust. :-[

The name of the book by by rizen/apestyles/pearljammed is "Winning Poker Tournaments One Hand At a Time Vol. 1"

I guess I am a little late responding, but I found this to be an excellent book for tournament poker. Vol.2 focuses on final table play and should be coming out shortly.

Which 2+2 books are you referring to?

Glad this was bumped. Have the used the system twice at Brantford since purchasing. Winning sessions both times at 2/5. System is a fairly tight, ABC brand, of Limit. I realize that two sessions is a woefully inadequate sample size, but it does seem to work. Not sure I'd want to be known as, "that guy with the card", but I do like going home with more $$$ than I bring to the dance.

    ymmv.
  • Several forumers got five free books from 2+2 by signing up with Everest. I may never find the time to finish reading any of those books. :-[

I'm glad you've won. Playing tight, ABC poker will make you a nearly guaranteed winner at almost any live 2/5 game. I never said that that book/system is worthless, but I just think there's much better books to buy if you have a limited book budget.
  • No disagreement with that, Mike. But at roughly $10.00, it's a steal . . .
