Niagara Home Game

It has come to the point that a few of us Fallsview regular players have had enough of the garbage the Fallsview Poker room stands for. Not opening tables with 100 names on the list, not offering other games (PLO), and just poorly run games.

We have then opened an absolutely beautiful room for people to enjoy the game. We spread games not normally offered in Niagara Falls poker rooms, including a big buyin 1-2 game, limit holdem, as well as PLO and well structured sit and go's.

Our games then,

1-2 NLHE 100-300
2-5 NLHE 300-500

10-20 LHE 500+

5-5 PLO 300-500
5-10 PLO 500+

Well structured (5-6 Hours) Sit and Go's
$200, $500

We serve beers, order food, and just ask for a chip in towards the expenses on the night, and to take care of the dealer. A legal poker game in an amazing room to enjoy the game.

Pictures to follow.

If interested in any of our games, to find out when we are running them, please show interest by posting here.

    ^^ Interested.

The chip in is totally voluntary right? It's my understanding that's required to make it legal.

Also, I must ask - are you getting nice (custom) chips for this game?:)
  • If this is the Big Mike I think it is I believe we have played together at the casinos in Niagara before.

And yes the chip in for beer and food etc. is voluntary.

If interested we are spreading a 1-2 NLHE 100-300 game this wednesday evening at 8:00, the UFC fight will be on.

The 10-20 LHE we spread on Sunday's, let me know if you are interested

And Yes we have a very nice set of custom chips special ordered. They have been used a few times in the past two weeks while we have been setting up and they are very nice

Hmmm... I don't think I am. I play there very rarely. Also, my first name is Shaun and don't go by Mike anywhere but the internets.

I may come by for LHE on a Sunday at some point, though.
  • I'll keep you updated
  • What would you be interested in playing?
  • I'm interested...not sure how many times I can make it out..I live a few hours away....but given enough notice....I can try my best
  • Im down in the falls quite a bit let me know when your open

it really must be made quite clear so people do not fall into legal trouble based upon what they read here, that the only LEGAL poker games held within the province of Ontario are those offered at casinos.

By the written laws, even a "friendly" wager for money placed between two friends on who will win the next round of golf/catch the biggest fish/call heads or tails correctly is, technically, ILLEGAL!!! Nearly all stag games, home games, bar games, bar pools, "squares", etc. also fall into this category.

Only wagers made against the Government of Ontario or those which allow the Government of Ontario to make money are legal.
  • ya that. i would be awfully cautious giving out your location to just anyone...

i'm interested in 1/2nl or 2/5nl. and hopeful.
  • As far as I know, a home poker game is illegal if a rake is taken.

And it is completely wrong to think that a friendly bet is illegal.

Taking a rake, selling alcohol, or anything to make the house turn a profit is illegal.
  • This is something I would definitely be interested in checking out.
  • I played in a very good home game in Niagara that fits your description not far from the Casino on Friday.

If it is the same one I recommend it.
  • I definetly would be interested in 1-2 or 2-5NL.
  • If I may ask, whats the motivation behind running a poker room that doesnt take a rake (doesnt profit?), and risk being raided POSSIBLY?
I'm not trying to troll, but I would like to know.

They're not in it to profit, other than from playing and risking it with others. Anyone can open a poker room if they have no intention of profiting from it other than sitting and playing the games.

Just providing an environment for players to play outside a casino, and with more game options (and less cost to the player too, I might add)
  • if thats the case then the place sounds great
pretty big risk though IMO, hopefully no shady characters play

ontario needs a poker room like this (assuming its safe to play there)

Yes it does. However, once this (or any) room gets big enough, it will be raided/shut down. Government hates competition, they will find a reason. If they can't find a valid reason, they'll just make one up. Hope I'm not there that day.
  • how can i get more info on this place? i want to play!

    p.s. i'm not a cop.
  • Is anyone interested in a 1-2 PLO game this Thursday?

Is anyone interested in a 1-2 NL game (100-300) this Friday?

not until after the holidays but HELL YA. and eventually the PLO, too.

do i need to PM you to get the secret password or what?
  • No secret password. We ask that you just call for address details.

    All games are at 8pm.

There are a few seats available for tomorrow and friday if interested.

    ok but how?
  • I have PM'd you the number, anyone else interested let me know.
