Do you want to go to Vegas! (free airfare)

Hi guys,

First off let me say this... This is not a scam.

A little more than a year ago I won Airfare for two to Las Vegas on Air Canada. These are two Business Class tickets both worth several thousand dollars. They expire at the end of this year. I have to use them or lose them, so I will be flying off to Las Vegas on Dec 10th.
I don't have any friends that share my passion for poker so I will not be taking anyone with me. It seems a shame to waste a seat to Vegas so I thought I would offer up the other seat to a fellow poker enthusiast who has Dec 10-12 available to travel. I am willing to offer the seat to the right person for free! Like I said I am going for 2 days only and you need to travel with me. I will be staying at the Stratosphere for $21 a night and renting a car.

A little about me: I am a serious poker amateur and have been playing online for about 4 years. I am moderately succesful and have managed to win about $40K playing tourneys and 1/2 and 2/4 nl, mostly over the last year and a half. I'd like someone at a similar or better poker level to come along with me to Vegas. I'm hoping this can lead to a new friendship, and perhaps an improvement in my game. I live in Guelph so people from around my area will be given first consideration. I'm also in my early forties so the closer you are in age the better your chances of coming along.

This is a chance to go to Vegas for less than $80 including hotel, so don't be shy.
You can send me an email. I'll wait til Sunday for replies and if I get some good matches, perhaps someone will be going to Vegas Business Class!

Cheers

Den

  • ok but no anal. this time. srsly.

this is a great offer even if your name is stinky fingers. unfortunately i'm booked up until january. bummer.

    have a great trip!
  • lol, well would have been interested but I'm already going Dec 7-12th staying at the Excaliber for $36... Are you playing one of the WPT events at Bellagio?
  • Blondefish, I thought you would be all over this one. I guess the asmtha is still acting up. If I didn't have a busy month, I would have been very interested. Thanks for offering it up. You should have no problem finding someone, for sure.
  • Den,

I am interested. Sounds like you may not need much help on yer game as your results are very good.

    Is this out of Toronto?

Yes, taking EV-maximizing trip$ to La$ Vega$ is the easy part for me, but having to ASTH-MA wife is the hard part! :D I haven't gone back once to Fallsview and Casino Brantford since my big wins there due to "asthma."

Stop hacking those Sucks-calibur rigged terminals with our secret IBM administrator super-user access! ;) Good luck at Sucks-calibur, Binion's & possibly the WPT Seniors Event.

Except for the +EV Super Satellites, the only event at the Bellagio on December 10-12 is the U$5,100 one-day event. Unlike only U$1,650 for the three-day Seniors Event which is like 0.01% of compuease's rollz and he makes more than that in one rake-free Milton game, :) U$5K is way too much for StinkyFingers' $40K poker bankroll, unless you win a satellite. Does anybody know if satellite wins at Bellagio are transferable or saleable (like WSOP and Venetian)? Next time I go to Las Vegas, I want to play the Bellagio satellites but instead of playing the taxable tournament, I would sell the seat and use the cash to buy into Canadian Poker Tour events (such as the championship finals at Dominican Republic next month).

I had no idea that the WPT was in town TBH. It's a good thing you told me. The Sattelites start at $1500 and it's a little stiff for me but if I do OK at the cash tables I'd certainly be willing to give it a shot. From what I hear live poker is much softer than online so I'm hoping I will do OK... Will you be playing in any events?
  • I should also mention that the dates are not written in stone. I can leave anytime from the 9th and come back as late as the 13th... Unfortunately I work for a living. Also worth mentioning is that I have the opportunity to win these seats quite often thru work so it might not necessarily be a one shot deal.

Like you said $5K is a little stiff for my Roll, but $1500 would be in my range if I did OK at the Cash tables.

If you want to contact me offline, send me a pm and I'll shoot you my cell and email. Perhaps we can hook up while there. Blondefish may be exagerating my "roll" just a little.. lol... Actually it's not my roll I have issues with playing bigger events, it's the fact that once any winnings are in my hands I hate to spend... I really doubt I will play the seniors (>50) event but if I cash significantly at Binions I may.. Jeff...

Don't tell em about that! Geesh, I'll have to hide on the Kahnawake reserve.... hehe.. Thanks for the GL, I'll give it a shot.... If I do cash, say at least 1K in the Binions event, I will play the Seniors...
  • I'll go if I can fly out of Calgary, I'll send my resume if it's a possibility:)

Damn..those dates fall right perfectly between my exams...but I can't really justify going again. Maybe if this comes up again next year...
  • First the high-limit Bellagio lowered many of the buy-ins for its WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic events at the last minute. Now its poker room is running 1/2 NL! :o The maximum is only $200 (minimum $100). Bellagio used to be the place to play 2/5 and much higher limits, but on my last trip, I noticed that the Venetian had sucked up most of the poker players away from Bellagio, Caesars Palace, etc. It looks like the recession and too many empty tables has forced yet another casino to make drastic changes.

  • Sounds awesome, I'm definitely interested!
  • I had a lot of interest. Thanks to everyone who took the time to send me a note.
Unfortunately I could not take all of you.

Blonde Fish will be coming along this time around. It seems like he is a wealth of information about Vegas and it will be good to have him along to help me as I try my hand at live poker for the 1st time!!

Please keep an eye out for more of these as I get these promo's quite often and next time it could be for up to 5 people!

hope you like to talk about poker, and poker, and poker.....actually he is a very good choice and is a wealth of information although your bankroll may suffer if you try to keep pace with him.

Your earlier post scared us both into getting our own free room! ;) Expedia.ca's price for Binion's is less than C$27 grand total for our stay, so I booked online for both of us. I printed a coupon for both of us where we each get $20 in free poker chips, $10 match play and free slot play for StinkyFingers, so Binion's is actually paying him to have his own room, safe from pkrfce9's Vaseline!
  • Be aware, Binions rooms are not really "Strip" quality, even compared to IP or Hooters.... I'm at Excal for $36. waaaaaay nicer...

Not sure if you two are reading this but I'm playing the Noon V again today, played yesterday but busted out flush over flush on the flop...

lol, I'm sure the excal is equally shitty
  • The Stratosphere is away better than Excal and Binions!

Sorry but the Excal is much better than IP or Binions or the other lower end downtown rooms, and I have stayed in a few. Not as nice as the V or B but probably about the same as Harrahs. Free upgrades to "widescreen" rooms which are actually quite nice... Have you ever stayed there? Poker room is shitty tho... lol

Just off to play the noon V, will update later if I get a chance...
  • Well I never did find Buddy or Stinky in my travels although I was never downtown after Monday. I don't believe either has a cell although they had my number. My abreviated trip report is this, 10 tournaments played including the Binions 50K freeroll, two Venetian noon $150. tournies, 2 Orleans NL's, 1 Orleans O8 limit and 4 Excalibur donkfests, Final tables = 2, cashes =1 for a grand total of $350. what a difference from last time. It's amazing how variance can hit you...... Without giving sordid details, twice I lost with top boat to quads, once in one of the Venetians I lost with flopped 2nd nut flush to nut flush, numerous times "two pair" to higher 2 pair after getting in ahead. I fact I can only recall twice where I got my chips in bad for any significant amount...... lol, I'm beginning to hate poker..... currrently sitting in Las Vegas airport awaiting my red-eye back...
  • You were right Compuease and neither of us had a cell or bothered to check the internet so I'm sorry we missed you. It was a fun trip. Blonde Fish opened my eyes to a lot of Vegas freebies one could get by just signing on the dotted line. On Friday as we were prepared to return home it looked like both of us would be coming home with more $$$ than we had left with. BF had pulled an all nighter at Binions/Golden Nugget to grind out a nice profit, while I had managed to turn my trip around at Binions with a nice finish for a small profit. However at the airport I realized that my passport was missing and that Air Canada was not gonna let me fly home! Me and the Fish parted ways and I got to stay an extra night in LV. Unfortunately that night at Binions was not kind. I had Aces cracked by Q10 off, KK cracked by AQ, QQ cracked by 5/6 off, and in the final hand of the night I lost an all in on the turn for a $920 pot with a flush on a K(d) J(d) j(s) A(d) to some dude who called off his $460 stack as a big dog with J6 off and off course caught the case 6 on the river (one 6 had already been folded). So after Saturday I left Vegas as a net loser of about $440... not what I had hoped for but I see now what people mean when they talk about how bad Vegas live players are... The Fish will have a more detailed report I imagine so stay tuned.
