My first tat

Got my first tattoo on the weekend.

There's a tribal representation of the world snake eating his own tail around the outside. This represents to me the infinite cycle of life and death. Inside of that I have a yin yang with all 4 elements in balance (fire and earth on one side water and wind on the other.

    YIN YANG...just sayin', is all.

Just saying what? Out with it :)

To me the yin yang represents balance... a greater oneness acheived by the presence of two opposite forces in balance. I thought it would be neat to tie the elements into it as they are all relatively opposing forces in thier own balance on the planet.
  • Nice ink. And a pretty cool idea behind it, too. I have three down the left arm, representing myself, my wife, and my daughter. They're just black, oriental symbols for the years of our birth.

he's just saying you added a 'g' on Yin..nice choice, where are you going to have it done?

I got it done in Niagara Falls on Sunday at Lucky 13 Tattoos. It's right on Fallsview between the new casino and Clifton Hill. Nice way to cap off a pretty wild weekend. That picture is of my tattoo... I took it last night. My wife also got her first at the same time. She got a rose on her right side midsection on the back side.

Until the day some Asian guy lets you know you have "Number 4 with Chicken fried rice" written down your arm.

OP: Not to nit-pick, but I can't tell the difference between the fire/earth and wind/water.. Which is which?
  • It's a bit of a stretch. But the yin yang I based this off was water and stone. But I had the stone coloured with fire... almost molten rock. The water side I had broken up to also incorporate wind/air. The colour in the pic seems a bit off.

I see it and that's what matters ;).

Well, I had a Chinese friend's mother hand write (paint? she used a brush and ink) them out for me, to avoid having the same look as a "stock" image, so I'm not too concerned, that way. But your point is well taken.

Somedays, Kristy, I feel like you are the only one on here that gets me even a little bit. Thx.

Kristy, they have a pill for that, just so you know . . .

I eventually figured it out too and fixed the spelling mistake ;).
  • Looks like clean work. Who did it if you don't mind me asking? A friend of mine works at that shop.
  • Tramp stamp?
