Is this move too Loose?

45 man Sig N go 5.50 buy in, the chip leader limps (like he does almost everyhand, im on the button with 88. With the blinds + the limp theres 500 in the pot, 1/6 of my stack. I dont want to just limp or raise, because i know this reckless chip leader will call, as well i know this guy will give my all in no respect and would call with any lower pair . I pull the trigger, and just push my 3100.... As im planning all this the SB happened to wake up with kings.... the info is posted. Is this push way too loose for my stack size? What better play could i have done? thanks guys!
