  • Eeeek

Where do you live???? Does anyone know where Zithal lives. I'm supposed to be there in 30 minutes and i dont know where to go LOL

If you get this Zithal, my phone # is 576-9189, call me pls!
  • Ok so I just got home from the tourny, good times as usual. Here is an interesting hand I had in the tournament that I would like some advice on.

    Blinds 25/50

I have a healthy chip stack with about 1700TC, close to leading my table.

I limp in with 3 others with 44

    Flop 9d 10d Kc

    checks all around

    Turn 4s

I bet 50 and get one caller, a guy with the nickname "bluffy". I have played with him before and know he is totally unpredictable. I'm glad to be up against him.

    River 5d

    I bet 50

    He raises me to 500....

Flush on board... straight on board...it's early..."bluffy" didnt bet untill the flush appeared, although his name is "bluffy".....I do have him covered but that would short stack me if I lost.....everything here tells me to fold except the fact that he does like to bluff. What would Jesus do?...I mean what would you do?

    Duffman would fold. Ooooooh yeaaaaaaaaaaaah.

That's great!! Such a Klassic Kharachter from the Simpsons. So I am assuming that ScottyZ would fold also? Folding is the right play in my opinion here BUT we don't always make the right play, do we?

  • Easy laydown. Bluffy's a funny guy, I caught him quite a few times last time I played.
  • I recently introduced Bluffy to the world of online gambling and his game has tightened up a lot, especially since the night he dropped over a hundred at my $20 buy in No-iLimit game.

He still bluffs, but he's also added the word "fold" to his vocabularly.

The very first tournament he played here, he busted me out after staying in against my raise with 52o -- I had JJ.

He's a very dangerous player and is like an unpolished Gus Hansen.
  • ScottyZ would also fold. (Oooooooh yeaaaaaaaah)

I would certainly not call this an easy fold, and I have played against specific players that I would call here. It depends a lot on knowing your bluffer.

  • Ok ok, so I folded, and no it was not an EASY fold by any means. I flipped it over and showed the table, they couldn't believe I folded it. Bluffy turned over K10 for two pair. I gave him credit for a great bet. Later on in the night he came over the top of me all in when I raised with AQ, I reluctantly called partly because of this early lay down. He showed 1010 and I didn't improve.

I was eventually busted out on a moronic play by me, play and learn I guess.

UTG calls and its folded to me in the BB, I have JJ. I check.
Flop Kd 2c 5h. I check, he bets minimum (200) I call. Turn card 8c, I check and he bets 200, I raise to 800 (pot committing myself). He calls (ugh). River 4c. I check, he calls me all in and I call. I loose to his K high flush. After some good lay downs early, why am I risking everything when I'm this close to the satellite prize? How can I fall in love with JJ when he obviously has me beat. If you're gonna play it like that before the flop, play it like that after the flop. Insert smiley with head banging against the wall here.

Thanks again for the tourny Zithal, see you at the main event..when I qualify.

  • I flipped it over and showed the table...

I think it's generally a bad idea to show the table you are capable of folding a very big hand, especially when a bluffing specialist is present.

Not me. I think your opponent played this hand poorly, even though the exact way it turned out may give it the illusion of genius.

At the time I thought if I showed the hand I might get more respect from the table overall. Not a lot of newby players would fold that IMHO but perhaps you are right Scotty.

Yeah, he obviously over-valued his hand and walked into a number of possibilities that he could not beat but being the gentleman that I am, I gave him props for a strong move.

I guess what I didn't like was the pre-river play. I can see no real reason to slowplay the top two here.

Nothing wrong with *telling* him he played it well of course. ;)

  • That sounds like a textbook Mike Matusow blowout ;)

How did the tournament feel ? Even mix of good players, or was it clear from the beginning who the winners would probably be ?

stpboy - will you be attending any of Zithal's other satellite tourney's ?

Well, you know in NL hold em anyone can win (kinda like proline I guess but not really...at all). What I'm trying to say is that, yes, there were a good mix of players but I could tell who the more experienced and confident players were early on. I had one person that I played with that did not raise preflop one single hand, sign of lack of confidence/experience or just cold cards? I'm not sure, I take the former.

I consider myself a fairly experienced player and would like to think that I controlled my first table for most of the night but saying that I was still outplayed on certain hands and I made some big mistakes (ie. raising preflop then seeing the flop and letting someone else take over the betting and win with an inferior hand). I totally expected to be one of the winners but made a fatal mistake at a bad time, I'd be interested to see what other players think about 'the quality of the field'.

Yes, I will be at other events at Zithals. Great tournaments for sure. Were you there at the tournament?

Yes, I was there. I started out at the far table (wooden one in corner). I don't believe we had the chance to play against each other because I think I saw you bust after I had moved to table 1 (white leather one).

I had a lot of fun at the tournament. I can't believe there were 24 people in that room! Holy fire-hazard Batman. I am *very* impressed at how stocked Zithal is with chips/tables/software/etc. etc.

I think I made it to the 100/200 level, but got beat on the river by a flush (I had top 2 pair - :frown: ). The final table assembled after I went out *sigh*.

Looking forward to attending another satellite ! I'll be at the next NL holdem game.
