have to tell someone!
Was thorougly upset at getting knocked out of Sunday's Pokerstars 200 tourney. Mostly because of a mistake I made with pocket Queens and then having to go for the race with pocket sixes. Oh well, at least I was a slight favourite when the money went in.
So, I spot a $100 tourney starting at in a few minutes at 6:00. I notice something strange after a few hands and it's a limit tourney! Yikes, oh well.
TSN turning point is at level 5 with blinds at 100/200 and I have 217 chips left. Folded to button who raises, SB calls and I push the last 17 chips in the pot with A9o. Flop 237 rainbow, and SB bets and button calls with his last 50 chips. SB turns over QT and button turns over K6o. YES! Two more cards to come. Turn is 5. River is 7. I now have a monster stack of 651 with the blinds at 100/200. Got some nice cards after that, QQ, and JJ that didn't get busted and I had a stack of about 2,000, with the average around 4,000.
It was a long haul and I find myself at the final table in ninth spot, with emptyseat88 (aka scott fishman of the crew!). With some nice healthy testosterone, he nicely builds my stack. My favourite hand was when he was on a blind steal, and I re-raised him back with KTo. Flop six high, and I pound away. Turn is a beautiful ten, and River is a six and there's only 422 left in my stack when I bet (blinds are 3,000/6,000) my final 422 and he folds. The table gasps and I scoop a 37k pot.
With some aggression and some luck I become the big stack and end up heads up against a guy from Ireland. I've got 133k and he's got 36k. I offer a chop of 2'nd plus chip count. It would really suck for him as he's only getting $200 more than 2'nd place. He asks for $400, I offer $350. He says split the difference -- I say let's play (thinking I love head's up play and I have all the chips!). We see-saw for a while. We're about even and my Q5 hits the str8 on the river! Yes. Few hands later, he's still pissed about that and I take all the chips and first spot. It's not $30k, but hey it's a nice haul.
Cheers
