  • I just don't want to know what he's doing with his right hand. That had better be a roll of white poker chips I see there!!

And what's with the Ace of Hearts being upside down? I do like the choice of the Ace of Clubs instead of the (almost cliché) Ace of Spades. Perhaps a subtle reference to the Canadian maple leaf, eh?

I've clearly got a lot of time on my hands...

    :)

Seriously though, it's a nice photo. I also like how he has exactly the same smirk on the cover and interior photo. Classic! 8)

  • Definately too much time on your hands
  • Great picture/article. Sounds like things are really taking off for pokersupplies. I love the line about how nothing beats the feeling of flying somewhere to play poker lol.

Did Lederer really lose 2 million in a day? To who, and where?
  • Lederer's loss: I didn't ask. He was staked in the game (some of his own money). His biggest win is almost the same size though.
  • I would think that once they get up to that level they wouldn't need to be staked...What up with that?
Sure I know it is better when you lose but what about when you win, it should all even out no? If you are a winning poker player then you should be up $$ at the end of the day?
  • Variance kills you at whatever level you are playing at. If you are playing $50K-100K limit hold'em then you could DEVASTATE your entire bankroll and livelihood. On the other hand, someone shows up and says "let's play" it is hard to say no. Solution: Find someone with deep pockets to back your play.
  • handsome devil!

    ace upside down:

I'm left handed, and almost always hold my cards upside down...you'd have to be a lefty to understand.

    Smirk:

I'm really not good at smiling on demand..it either comes off as artifcial or ... a smirk...mind you I was really quite happy :)

    "Not our best looking cover."

oh come on now, Lou Philips has nothing on me! :)

    I've seen that smirk before....

That's his "I've just slowplayed a monster and gotten paid off huge!" smirk.

I'll probably see it again tonight, but I don't think I'll be the one paying off.
  • I still can't find the magazine at my local chapters :(
  • I know that my local casino ordered a whole bunch for waiting room reading. I would imagine that everyone elses' has done something similar...?
  • We send the magazine to every cardroom in Canada.
  • Oh...I see...so...what if I told you that I was a registered cardroom? :)

    Hehehe...just kidding.
  • Sorry...that was me!
  • i've been on the phone to every chapters around here, and they told me that they recently changed magazine suppliers, and they no longer carry it.

they also told me that in the burington/oakville area (a little snobbish here), they "carry high end magazines"

oh really? what r they saying about poker players?
and how high end would, say, YM be?

    is Sloth Neil McVicar???
  • is Sloth Neil McVicar???

Well, according to Dave Scharf's original post, it's either that, or Lou Diamond Phillips. :)

I just wonder who this mysterious so-called "Dave Scharf" is supposed to be...

    Probably Lou Diamond Phillips.

[Yes, I know there have been a couple other CPM cover models, but I just picked out one other one, since I can't remember the others.] :)
