some decent events coming up at Turning Stone (which is about 2.5 hours from Niagara Falls). Buy-ins of $200, $300, $500 and $5k with a $300 turbo on the last day . Nice 40 minute blind levels for the $200 and $300 tournaments. Here are the details:

no, just for others that might be interested.

With your rake free satellites happening, why would I incur all those additional costs plus a potential 30% withholding if I made the money. As Blondefish would say, its a -ev proposition. Although I do love the venue. Its a great hotel/resort.
  • That's pretty good bang for your buck......If I was about 2000 km's closer I'd take in the event. Anyone know what their turnout usually is for the main event?
  • I went several years ago and had a great time playing poker. Unfortunately the communication between poker room and hotel was lacking and this led them to not honouring the poker rate I was quoted. I bitched and bitched every f'n day and got it on a daily basis.

The big tourney's are held up in the ball rooms with a fair bit of space between the tables. My complaint is depending on where you seated seeing the board with the level, #of players left time of the level etc.

Turning stone was a dry casino then but I don't know about now.

No withholding tax at Turningstone, you are paid in chips which you then cash tax free at the cage.

that's good to know. Never heard of this before at a US casino.

Actually it's quite common, I know Binions and the Orleans both payed me in chips when I had decent wins there last year.
  • Turningstone policy has changed. You now pay tax on any winnings 5K or more.
  • Is any forumer going to the Turning Stone events this week? The satellites look much better than the ones at Fallsview Casino.

the satellite king returns! I was thinking Blondefish, maybe you should travel around the world playing satellites and selling the seats. Never mind playing the actual tournaments, if you can make a lot more money w the satellites.

Cheapest room for the Thurs/Fri seems to be above $250US so probably not a great option.
  • The tournament rates for rooms in the hotel/tower were like half the listed price at the August series (the name of which escapes me). $90 USD/night for a tower room is pretty good.

I don't know about the Lodge though but I'm guessing you aren't there for the accomodations.

is anyone down for a trip to the Superstack Series in early December?

I was seriously looking into it, but the rake seem high.

    $240 Events #1, 3, 4 & 8: 19.2% rake :(
    $350 Events #2 & 5: 16.9% rake
    $560 Event #6: 13.4% rake.

The $235 satellites actually have a lower rake at 8.9%! Another great thing about the +EV satellites is that for every extra main event seat you win, you will receive a CASH payment of $1,070. This is like at WPT Foxwoods but at WPT Fallsview, I had to sell my extra ME seats at a discount to pros. There were shockingly only 49 players  in the ME this weekend even though it was a televised Heartland Poker Tour event.
