Frankly, any SOB using a gun in the commission of a crime should be shot with said gun...save a lot of $$
Banning hand guns will not work. Just remember, its not the legit owners of handguns committing crimes. Criminals are getting them underground and no amount of legistration will prevent that from happening. Matter of fact, more legistration will only mean a larger underground market for this product.
The only thing that can be done imho is tougher sentencing and NO parole. Stop treating criminals like honest citizens and start putting them where they belong.
There's a good reason they have no crime.

I agree with this to an extent, but with the laws the way they are now, if people think they can get away with something and have very minimal consequences then they are more likely to do something. Risk vs. Reward

If deterrents don't work, it is because said persons are not considering the risk / reward ratio... it's kinda like donkeys calling for their flush regardless of pot odds... it doesn't matter how bad the ratio is for them, because they aren't paying attention to it.
