Whats the deal with FTP Iron Man?

If I qualified for Iron Man, I don't think I would want to advertise this to other players on the site. Why do people feel the need to show their little iron man symbol? Is this some kind of an ego thing? Anyone have any ideas?

    Ego's probably a reason for some.

    Maybe they think it will intimidate
    newer players ? I'm an ironman
    who plays every day, so fold when I raise...lol

    Personally, mine's hidden. Guys who play
    a lot probably have notes on me and know
    that I play quite a bit, but I dont want anyone
    who doesnt recognize me to see that I have
    an ironman symbol.

    Exactly..that is what I would think also. Also, who would want to sit down at a table with all Iron Man players when you can go to a table of guys without those symbols. I think psychologically it is dumb to show the symbol, but think it is probably just a big ego thing.

    but....but...just because they play alot, it doesn't mean they are winning players.
    i don't mind table full or ironfish with long term losing record.

    Very true, often the worst players at
    a $0.25/0.50 or even $1/2 cash table
    are the guys with the ironman symbol.
