Scotty Nguyen Drunken HORSE Event

Last night the HORSE event was televised on ESPN. If you haven't heard, Scotty Nguyen put on quite a show...

  • He's all class baby.
  • even drunk he is better than most players; unfortunately he will always be remembered for this performance.
  • Thanks for the post Graham.. Why didn't get get timeouts for all the Fbombs? Did they change that rule or something?
  • To the tune of "On Top of Old Smokey"

    It's all who you know - ooooh . . .
Thats how these things go . . .
    If your name is Ny - ug - en . . .
    And not Ma - tu - sow . . .

    Thanks, Kristy. This is fun.
  • As someone who has always found him entertaining, I was really disappointed with his behaviour. He seemed drunk, yet they continued serving him alcohol, & they didn't reprimand him for all his F-bombs? Pretty crazy he still won it, shows how good he is even when drunk.
  • maybe someone could also attach the post win interview with his comments on how the other player showed no class (its also on youtube).
  • That was fantastic. I am not a big fan of Nguyen, but this was a great performance. Glad I was not playing at the same table, I would be soooo annoyed.
  • WSOP HORSE Scotty v. Lindgren - rec.gambling.poker | Google Groups

Interview suggests that DeMichelle's constant "celebrations" with the crowed rubbed players at the table the wrong way incl Nguyen..., players got upset, didn't appreciated it, and warned him not to.

Unfortunately for Scotty, his over consumption of the "all-you-can-drink" dark ale during the $50K HORSE event acted as a catalyst to the already blazing fire.

My take..., more 'imitation' beer and virgin Pina Colada less Michelob!

    Thank You

You were allowed to swear, you just weren't allowed to direct it at somebody else.

Too late - damage has been done.
  • Watching this almost makes me want to stop drinking when I play poker...

    Almost.

    Almost.

LOL... I don't believe you could play sober ;) j/k
  • We've all been in Scottys shoes before but you think a professional poker player would act more.....professional.
  • Wow. Do you really think he adjusts his game because he is on TV?
and even through it all he is so cocky. haha.
I do not think he played it wrong or disrespected anyone and really do not see a big deal here. It was a solid win.
  • Scotty was a total pain in the ass but it made for great television. Great player!

note: he's sorry AFTER it appeared on TV and he was able to see how the event was cut together. And also notice the content of his 'apology' is all about excuses about how 'other' people started it.
