Tracking stolen laptop

Is there any way of tracking a stolen laptop? Maybe by MAC address or something else?

    good luck... technichally someone could tell you where it logged on a network via the mac address but geez there's so many network out there it'll be almost impossible to find that... you're sol...

    with lojack can you find and locate your stolen laptop yourself, or does it all go thru the security department of the company?

    tbh most of the time id rather confront/recover the laptop myself from the theiving scum
