US requires a passport? And FV > * in the falls?

To celebrate a couple of promotions a friend and I are looking to do a hookers and blow weekend down in Niagara Falls.

So 1st question is, if we want to go to Seneca, do we need passports?

2nd question, is it worth going over or can find a relatively fishy game in the Canadian side? (Likely playing 1/2 maybe 2/5 at the highest)

  • Canadians travelling to the United States

    By land or water

Canadian citizens will not require a passport to enter the United States at land and marine ports of entry until June 1, 2009.
However, as of January 31, 2008, if you travel to the United States by land or water, a United States law will require you to present:
    • a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's licence
      AND a birth certificate or a citizenship card;
      OR
    • for persons aged 18 and under, a birth certificate or a citizenship card only;
      OR
    • a valid passport.
Is Seneca +ev? Well how many $5 drinks can you consume per hour?

Book Hampton Inn on US side and you are two blocks from Casino. Includes hot breakfast.

At Seneca tell floor when you want to go to dinner and they will walk you to the front of the buffet line. Note: at this point you and your buddy will have to be on different tables because two people can't take a meal break on the same table at the same time.

Get the phone number from my b/m sticky and get on the waiting list just before you leave Brantford. Voila no waiting. Don't forget you can sit at 1/2 $100 max or 1/2 $200 max.
  • Note to self, send moose bottle at Christmas time...

I like you too Moose so maybe it won't be empty ;)

Unfort. I don't drink.. So happens, buddy drinks like fish so he'll consume mine :)

Ok well any juice/hot chocolate/coffee etc is free too so how many $2 drinks can you consume or order two $5 drinks and he can drink 2x as fast. mmm I wonder if you can get free milkshakes?

Late night when I got hungry/tired of drinking I got Motts Clamato with extra olives.

You can bring the bottle when you sign up for my tourney next Sat. and bring your friend as well.
  • Unlike Fallsview, I remember Seneca allowing two people on the same 2/5 table to take meal breaks. You should apply for a players card which earns you around 60¢ per hour, compared to 50¢/hour on the Canadian side.

I believe Howard Johnson's is a better value if you just want a bed to sleep. Redington, a friend and I had free breakfast there, and I believe Shopsy2 has stayed in both HoJo and Hampton Inn.

The rake structure for 1/2 is worse at Seneca compared to Casino Niagara. On a busy weekend, Fallsview would be the fishiest since people that shouldn't even be playing 25¢/25¢ are forced to play 2/5 NL. With Casino Brantford still on strike, there was a 5/10 Limit table at Fallsview last weekend as Brantford refugees roam between Fallsview and CNE Casino.

    P.S. zunni74, I'll take a 4-pack of energy drinks at Christmas time. ;)
  • biggest issue for me is usually wait time at the Canadian casinos; easier to drive the five minutes to Seneca where there are pletty of 1/2 tables and you can phone an hour ahead to get a seat. On a H&B weekend, you got to hit all three anyways. Have fun.
  • Long weekend, border crossing times are long, I'd check that before you make your decision.

So I see pros and cons for both sides of the border.

    Seneca:
    Better comps
    Worse Rake

    Niagara:
    Better Rake
    Worse Comps

    Fallsview:
Fishier game at higher stakes = higher return
    Worse Comps.

Which one of the 3 would you choose if you had to choose just one?

if you go after 9pm, should be no wait times; once the outlet malls close, not a lot of people going across. Other alternative is to walk it.

I always play at Seneca as I prefer the rake per hand vs standard amount every 30 minutes. But I'm mainly sticking to 1/2 so Fallsview is out for me anyways. I think Blondefish did a good comparison a while back.

If you are staying over night, the US hotels tend to be cheaper, but this weekend they are all $$$.

Should have been more specific.. We are going sometime 2-4 weeks from now (he just had his interview yesterday so we are getting prepared)

    Thanks for the info all!
  • If I put myself in zunni74's size 10 shoes, I would first phone Casino Niagara to sign up for 1/2 and find out the number of open 1/2 tables and people in the waiting list. Make sure that you have a Players Advantage card for free parking. If the wait turns out to be too long, phone Seneca Casino to sign up for 1/2.

If I was zunni74 and after killing the cash game and a hooker or two, I would make a note to self to ship BlondeFish a 24-pack of energy drinks. ;)

  • I'm not sure how comfortable I am with fellow forumers stealing Zithal, Kristy, and I'd patented "Hookers and Blow weekend" title. ;)

Or at least not inviting us along!

You are more than welcome to come along and hang around with a couple of poker players as long as you can stand hearing about wives and kids.

Let me know if you are seriously interested via PM and we'll hook it up :)

You can't talk about wives and kids on a h&b weekend.

    Amateur ;)
  • Seneca was an easier game IMO.
    Americans are stupider than Canadians.
    Don't listen to BBC.
If you lose everything, borrow $20 of Kristy and win a jackpot on the quarter WoF machine.
The slot area smells like diapers.
The 4 card poker is +EV.
You can drink 40 Jack and Cokes before you start calling all ins with T8o...3 times.
  • That was the best weekend I've ever had at a casino...

fuck Alberta and ..where ever SpecialK is now; you NEED to come back to Kit.

EDIT: You CAN talk about wives, ONLY if the stripper/hooker reminds you of your buddy's wife. (bonus points if you tell your friend that you asked the wife-look-alike to call you by his name)

And of course, children may come up when you make the obligatory "I support single moms" joke

I have shown my inexperience in all things H&B related...

I bow at the feet of the masters and realize that I must attend many of these events in order to try to become more knowledgeable.

Side note, looks like we are heading down at the end of the month (29th, 30th, 31st), hope to see some of you down there.

Seriously, what is our code phrase going to be? I wanna know when I draw out on a fellow forumer....
  • Well, how about this?

Sign: You remind me of my best friends wife. How much for an hour of your time?

    Counter-sign: Nothing, if you've got some blow . . .

    Or is that too obvious?

Oh man, you have NO idea how much I want someone to say this to me now...

finding forumers is easy, you say "King eight make muhnney"

Edit: by Kristy (but I'm not mad about it this time because I'm on Mark's laptop lying in bed...I think I'm gonna have to buy one of these)
  • You want someone to mention that you look like their wife? Oh brother, where to start . . . :D
  • no, I want to be propositioned- to much hilarity for the unaware at the table.
  • My bad. Thought it was Mark. I'll just assume it's both from now on. Thanks for the new avatar, K/M
