  • PLEASE KEEP IN MIND, I HAVE NO EXPERIENCE PLAYING THESE TOURNAMENTS, AND THIS IS JUST MY ANALYSIS FROM WATCHING OTHERS:

My brother played the EPT in Monte Carlo also and I watched quite a bit of the play. I think the good players can read inexperienced live players (not directed at you) very well. I saw many hands where the seasoned pros would call with complete junk, just because they knew they could get their opponents off big hands, then in some cases showed their bluffs. I think the best thing to do is play some decent size buy-in live tournaments before going, as if you have never played for that amount of money before it may be overwhelming. Also, there are gonna be tons of people with cameras everywhere watching you all the time. This can probably get a bit overwhelming if you are not used to it, so better you know now. One thing that annoyed me a bit in Monte Carlo, is they were letting railbirds get WAY to close to the tables. There were a few cases where it looked like some of these people on the "rail" (if you can call it that) were watching other players at the table and possibly feeding back info to their friends, but its tought to say.

Anyway, that's all I really have, so good luck, and anyone with more experience please correct me if I am wrong.
  • The EPT can be best described as loose...hahahahaha... I think the type of play on the EPT varies from your typical 10k buyin in the US(A WPT for say). The field is younger, much younger. There's much more aggression on the tables. I don't know I really like the EPTs but I don't think you should waste money taking a shot like this. I hope you change your mind and run your account/money into a bankroll!

  • PS what limits do you play online? I'll tell you how it differs but I can't define "high stakes" for you.
  • i usually play like 3-6 and sometimes 5-10,
  • Until you regularly play a max buyin in cash games at 5/10 you shouldn't take a shot going to a 10k unless you win a seat/ are really certain that you'll win...

    Good Luck
  • I feel pretty good bout it, im gonna try to win a package but i feel if not i think i might just go for it, the whole trip would only be like 15% of my bankroll so i think its worth the risk
