Edmonton Newbie

Greetings from Edmonton,

Slow at work today, and I was lucky enough to stumble over this site.

A little bio on myself:

Years Playing Poker: 5
Online or Live: Both
Site: FullTilt
Biggest Win: Not big enough to brag
Biggest Loss: Countless number of rivers???
Preferred Online Game: Pot Limit Omaha Hi - Tourney
Preferred Live Game: If I could find it, same as above..otherwise NL hold'm tourneys

Seems like a good site.......see you on the virtual felt (or real felt if you're in Edmonton).

  • Welcome to the site.... do you play most of the PLO tourneys at FTP? I am looking for some sites with some good ones. Which are the best ones in your opinion?
  • At Fulltilt, the ones I play regularly are:

    19:15 EST:
  • Sorry, premature enter........lol.....oops

    21:15 EST (M-F only I think) $24 + 2 (3000 chips) usually about 150 players......$1200 avg for 1st

    00:45 EST (I think 7 days) $50 + 5 (3000 chips) not as many for this one...usually about 25......but can have up to 70.....1st varies accordingly....assuming smaller field, $700 for 1st

    Saturdays @ 14:00 EST $200 + 20 (5000 chips) 120 - 150 on average........first is usually around $7000

Also a $24 + 2 knockout tourney starts before I usually get home....its pretty good as well.
  • Hey I'm from St.Albert. Usually play at River Cree or Yellowhead and some in Goldust in St.Albert.

Cool..thanks for the info... definitely gonna have to try some of these out. What is your username in case I run into you? Same as the forum one?
  • I'm at Yellowhead for alot of their tourneys.....probably twice a week (usually Sunday & Monday....best bang for the buck).

Rivercree, probably once a month for a tourney (they have a pot limit Omaha last Sunday of the month for $200.00, missed yesterdays though).

Haven't made it out to St Albert yet......I'll try to get there in August.

Also play @ Argyll a couple times a month.

same as my name on here.....the 24 & 50 ones I play on average every 3rd night......we'll see you there.
  • Welcome from just east!

Do you ever play cash games in-and-around Edmonton? I often don't have the time for tourneys, but do hit the cash games (mostly limit, but occ. NL) once in a while.
Entered one tourney @ Century, which had a decent structure - how does it compare to Yellowhead's?

Have you had a chance to play in Camrose, yet?

  • welcome to the forum
i'll be in edmonton in two week.
i usually head to barrac (not sure how to spell) it's one in downtown. near my hotel.
i only stay there when they have NL games.

I play cash probably once a week......either at Yellowhead or Rivercree (best action at Rivercree). I play either PL or NL Dealers Choice (NLH, OmHi, Pineapple, Crazy Pineapple), NL Holdem.....or limit 4-8 or 3-6 Dealers Choice.

Been to the Century tourney (Thursday nights) quite often...it's rates about the same as Yellowhead for tourney play.

Haven't been to Camrose yet....they have any tourneys out there?

Haven't been to Baccarat in a while.....I would recommend the 4-8 limit Dealers Choice game if you like Omaha.....as I hear it's pretty soft.

    If you like tourneys.....they have them Monday & Wednesday @ 7 pm.....Saturday @ 1 pm (I think)...all are $60.00 + $5.00....5000 chips, 15 minute blinds

i only went there, because it's right beside my hotel.
i don't play the dealers choice, because i don't have edge on omaha, i know the rules, that is about it.
i stick with NL cash only. before i play limit NL, but now, i play alot online, i have no need to settle for FL hold'em.
if they ever hold NL cash game of 1/2. is extreme profitable.
betting pattern is easy to read (benifit of playing online)
callingstation will call down (they are used to FL Hold'em)
just have to bit it and hope they don't suckout... :)
note: waitress there is so much hotter then the casino in west end mall.
