Poker documentary tonight

Just noticed on CBC Newsworld... 1.5 hour doc following 5 players at the WSOP. It re-broadcasts at 1:00 am tonight (technically Monday morning).

It might be good, who knows.

    Just watched it. It was sorta OK but had no real poker content. It was more about the grind of being a poker pro.

    At the very end was this caption:

    "Last weekend a Canadian from St. John's Newfoundland, Mike Watson, won $1.7 million at the Las Vegas World Poker Championships."

    Note: the "World Poker Championships" was the documentary's shorthand for the World Series, and of course Mike did not win a World Series event, but I thought it was interesting that they mentioned him.

    Yeah I just caught the last half hour, gonna check it out on PVR later. I missed the Mike Watson caption, awesome that he got a mention. I suspect it's because--from what little I saw--the documentary presented a rather grim (ie: true in most cases) look at the world of life on the tournament circuit, and it certainly needed something positive like that.

    I like it when a program offers the hard side of playing poker for a living. We usually only see the glamourous side, which is partly why so many people try to go "pro" but many times it doesn't end up that good for them.

    I watched most of it.....quite enlightening for anyone who hasn't been down before. I went this year during the series this year for a week. I did a similar trip to Vegas, with the exception of time (1 week) and tourneys (played cheaper ones at Binions, Caesars, etc). Even that was quite the grind......I can only imagine how tough it would be for 5 or 6 weeks. None the less......I plan to go next year for a couple of weeks....hopefully win enough to enter a WSOP event this time.
