How do you deal with this situation?
Hey everyone. I saw something that I thought was kind of weird so I am wondering if this situation was handled right.
This is a cash game. Dealer deals out 3 cards to the CO but only realizes this after 1-2 people fold and the CO brings it to her attention. At this point she shuffles the CO's cards face down and pulls one back to be a burn card. The pot ended up being chopped so nobody wanted to waste time asking what was going on.
My first thought was that this is a misdeal but I have no clue. I also know that the CO saw one of his cards before this whole thing went down. Does that make any difference?
Let me know if this is how something like this is handled and please no casino/dealer bashing.

When the dealer realized the mistake, he called the floor over, who decided that it was a misdeal, and all bets were returned.
The guy with KK in the BB wasn't too happy, but it seemed fair. The fact that almost all the tables down there have autoshufflers, didn't really put the dealer out or slow the game down much.

I guess that as long as the dealer exposes the burn card it makes no difference if the CO sees any of the cards or not. This never really crossed my mind since the hand was over before I even fully understood what just happened and I never really saw the card being exposed by the dealer.
Thanks for clearing it up everyone.
