    Can this be determined in a rebuy format? probably post rebuy blind levels.
  • The last time I calculated it:
    PF = 6.25
    Skill Level = 5

    This assumes that you make the min 1 rebuy and 1 add-on
  • The last rebuy tournament that I played at Great Blue Heron Casino last year had a Patience Factor of 4.7 and a Skill Level of 3. With the 2008 structure that was posted for the $240 tournaments, the Patience Factor went down to 4.2 and a Skill Level of only 2. Unlike the $500+ tournaments where the structure was greatly improved in April with 30-minute blinds and more gradual blinds/antes, I believe the $240 tournaments continue to have 20-minute blinds and the fifth blind level is 200/400 + 50 (Hobbes can check if he used different numbers).

    Most good players end up paying at least $540 (e.g., $100 "rebuy" on the very first hand and $200 add-on after the third level), so you would be better off playing the $500 freezeout with the much better structure - Patience Factor 9.5 and Skill Level 5. Many players are attracted by the "$240" price tag and avoid the $500 freezeout, but they either end up spending over $500 anyway or they play in such an exploitable way avoiding any rebuy/add-on that they have little chance of ever becoming a big stack and finishing in the top 4 where 3/4 of the money is. This type of players would be much better off spending their $240 on freezeouts.

    Hopefully, GBH will update its website with the blind structures and details for each of the remaining tournaments. After I return from my Las Vegas vacation, I will evaluate which are the best tournaments to play in for the remainder of the year.

    Anyway, good luck to QueenNine, SOS and the ladies I know playing in the $240 rebuy or Ladies tournaments.

  • To all those who played the $240 rebuy GBH tournament on September or July, was it only 2000 starting chips and only 20-minute blinds? What was the blind schedule (none of the employees I talked to knew and it's still not posted on the GBH website)? I'm wondering if I should bother trying to carpool to the November 12 tournament.
