HeadsUp Entertainment Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of HeadsUp Entertainment International Inc. (the "Company") (PINK SHEETS:HDUP) is pleased to announce that it has completed the acquisition of certain assets of Fifth street Publishers Ltd. including ownership and control of the Canadian Poker Tour (CPT) and Canadian Poker Player Magazine. This supplements the Company's own brand, Canadian Championship Poker, and positions itself as the dominant force in the Canadian Poker market in the areas of television production and tournament infrastructure.

The new CPT will launch a series of tournaments nationally beginning with the Calgary Classic at Cash Casino June 25-28. This will precede the Stampede Classic being held this year at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino in Calgary July 4-13 and an exciting new event at the end of August in Edmonton at The River Cree Resort and Casino. Details on these and more upcoming events are available at www.canadianchampionshippoker.com. The company will be announcing a number of additional tournaments across the country within the next few weeks and it is estimated that there will be 8-10 major stops on the 2008 schedule.

"We are excited about where poker in Canada is going'" stated president and CEO Kelly B. Kellner. "The model we have designed takes poker and tournament play to the next level with a properly designed player ranking system as well as a national televised Final Event, something the tour has lacked in the past."

Winners from each major event along with invited celebrities and other qualifiers will play off January 20-21, 2009 to declare a national champion. The Company will be announcing on its website prior to its first event, details surrounding the CPT Players Point System in which points earned in all CPT events will accrue and top ranked players will qualify for the National Final Event.

The Company is in the final stages of completing a television broadcast arrangement that will produce 13 one hour shows from 5 casinos across the country with the final 3 one hour programs featuring the Final Event. "We are pleased to have been able through the quality of our previous broadcasts and successful events, to now attract major sponsors to the CPT which allows for a more player friendly infrastructure," stated Kellner, "and a profitable business model for our shareholders."

The re-launch of Canadian Poker Player Magazine is also a key element to the unfolding business model, which is designed to provide players with a comprehensive overview of what is happening in poker in Canada. The first new issue is currently in the works and any potential advertisers are encouraged to contact the marketing team at info@canadianpokerplayer.com.

The Company currently is televising its highly successful 2008 Canadian Open Poker Championship series of shows produced earlier this year. These show can be seen on The Score Television Network Tuesdays at 7:00pm, Thursdays at 9:00pm and Saturdays at 10:00pm EDT.

"We have worked very hard over the past three years to build a business model in the poker industry that can provide a multi-media solution to sponsors and advertisers looking to target a specific and valuable demographic," commented Kellner. "With a national television presence, the re-launch of the only national Canadian poker magazine and the roll out of a new interactive web presence, we are building a phenomenal foundation and are confident that our plan to create shareholder value through a series of revenue generating models is on the right path."

  • did i just hear buddy blowing his load?
  • Yeah, I think I heard it too!
Anyways, good news, and I hope a lot of improvements also.
  • I ain't gonna do any premature "blowing my load" ;) until I get the money I'm owed for my poker articles.

The new CPT will still need to get major advertisers, sponsors and revenue streams which the old CPT could not do. Even the World Poker Tour and other big poker businesses are struggling to survive post-UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act).
