Introduction

Finally figured out how to post! I play poker reasonably well, but on the computer I wipe out!
So....hi y'all. I'll hope to use this forum often, to educate myself, exchange info, and keep in touch with poker developments. I play in the States about 4 months a year (during winter), so am familiar with many of the better known casinos there. Play mostly cash games, but also tournament satellites, and the occasional main event. Haven't had any meaningful luck at the big events, so rather than spend the time and then bust out after long days, poor diet and little sleep, and leave frustrated, I prefer to play the satellites and then sell those seats I do win.
Let me know if I can provide any info to anybody...altho I see the forum members are already very well-informed!
Question
can anybody recommend online sites currently offering WPT satellites? (now that the WSOP hype is almost over). Some sites used to offer WPT seats that could be used for any location you chose, but right now even Niagara sateliites only would interest me.
Thanks to all!

Right now Niagara has suspended the sats for the WPT. Might be bad news

  • Hey Piranha, welcome to the site! Great first post with lots of info. Usually people just join and say Hi, but you gave us a little background about your poker experience which is nice to see. I will look into the WPT satellites for you, off the top of my head Full Tilt Poker is one of the only sites that offers them. If you want rakeback for full tilt go here: Rakeback (my other site). I will see if I can find some others though for you.

    Again, welcome to the site!
  • Welcome to the forum. As actyper posted before, the WorldPokerTour site offers pretty good WPT satellites. There doesn't seem to be that many players there with a big deposit, so there were only 31 players that played for a $10,000 WPT seat on March 31. This meant that these lucky qualifiers had an EV of over +$320! There were probably less than 50 players on April 30 and May 31. There are currently only 10 players that have qualified for their final WPT satellite on June 30, but I'll be in Las Vegas, so I haven't bothered playing at WPT.

Hopefully by the time I get back, there will be a rake-free satellite/league or reinstated Fallsview satellites for its $10K event in October. The risk with winning a WPT online seat is that WPT Enterprises is losing a lot of money and some of the casino tournaments scheduled for this upcoming Season 7 may not be able to be sold for broadcast and may not remain as "WPT" events.

You can download the WPT software through 2+2 to get five free poker books as a bonus, unless Graham or somebody else knows of a better sign-up bonus. I played with another site and my five free books have already been shipped. Good luck.

Nope, can't beat that yet ;) That is probably your best bet! Thanks Blondefish for the insight.
  • Thanks Graham and Blondefish and Hobbes for all the info and insight. I'm already registered on both WPT and FullTilt, but hadn't checked out their activities for a while, so I'll now do so.
As a matter of interest, I also will be personally organizing some private games/tournaments at my house(no rakes or fees) bi-weekly on Sundays starting July 13, with point leader getting a WPT seat to represent the "club". What's the best way to tell you, and perhaps others, about this? Is it appropriate to post the full info and/or attach a write-up of the events? The club, limited to 15 members, is called "THE PIT", and is located in the Georgetown area.
Re Niagara and WPT...the sad stories just keep getting worse. Sure hope they get it all together soon.
  • Nice to see new posters....hope you enjoy the board and I'm looking forward to learning more from you. There are some great poker minds here.

The 'Club' sounds a lot like a club we used to have here on pokerforum.ca called the CNPL (Canadian National Poker League) where we used to play tournaments to determine a representative to play in the big Sunday tourney on PStars. It was fun while it lasted.

I think I still have my CNPL hat kicking around somewhere. lol
  • Blondefish, that WPT sat is such a joke. I tried it finally last week. 30 players, 10 qualify for the final. 2 sitouts ended up qualifying!!! I'm not talking about big stacks who decided to just sitout after, these were sitouts from the beginning. I completely berated a guy, who was 4th in chips with 13 players left and 3 sitouts, who risked all his chips vs a 3rd place guy with just tptk.
