Upcoming Summer Bristol St. Events

Hey all,

This weather sucks. I was actually planning on running a $5 re-buy tomorrow night, but Bristol has hot-boxed and it's going to take multiple days of low temperature weather to get it back down. The basement is fine, but too many people in there will kill it.

So, I'm looking to you guys for suggestions on the sorts of low number events I could run that would still make good "PotY" tournaments.

The Summer Shoot-out, which will be the death of me, is now running and the Heads-Up tournament will start as that winds down in mid July. (Though, I'm seriously wondering if we'll be able to get 32 players!)

Other than those two, I'm looking for suggestions for other events.

I'll start the ball rolling...

Idea A) Bristol Street Classic - Schedule B

Day 1a/b: 16-18 players, play down to 8/9
Day 2: Final 16-18 finish it out.

You keep the chips stacks of Day 1 moving into Day 2, Blinds move back a bit to give a little more Day 2 play.

Pros:
- Keep numbers low on a day by day basis.
- PotY points are fine as a 32 player tourney awards top 15.

Cons:
- One tournament hosted over three days, means people have to be available for 2/3 of those days.
- Will the cash game that usually develops, not develop?
- Is rewinding the blinds a bit a bad thing to do? (ie. A short stack surviing Day 1 could become a medium stack on Day 2.)

Idea B) Triple shootout - 4-player max.

Pros:
- Can easily run 3 or 4 tables at once
- 64 total players needed, so create 1 Buy-in = Two Shots, tournament is 32 player max. If you meet yourself in a future round, that table goes three-handed and/or you get additional chips.
- Can run really deep stacked to create a 3-4 hour tournament for 4 people.

Cons:
- 21 total games needed to be played. 7 nights x 3 games each, or 6 x 4 games? Not TOO bad...
- All dates need to be nailed down early; a sheduling nightmare?

Actually, I kinda like this one.

Idea C) STOP BEING SUCH A CHEEP ASS AND GET SOME CENTRAL AIR, ZITHAL!!!! GEEZZZ...

Other ideas?

  • Do you think there's enough interest in K-W for
Idea D) Satellite leading to the Fallsview Casino main event on October 10-16?
Forumers such as pkrfce9, The_Game, KingJackOff, piranha and other players from Georgetown may be interested in making the drive to Kitchener for such an event.

Assuming the event is still a go and I am back in KW in September - I will also play one.
  • Yes to the satellite idea
  • We'll probably have to wait on resolution on the WPT/GSN problem, but assuming it's still a go, I'll run something in early September.
  • I non-Hold'em or Omaha BSC might be a good way to have a PoY event and still keep the number of entrants down.
  • Perhaps we'll have to have our first No-Limit 2-7 Draw game. :) Hi Trevor!!!!
  • I'd vote for Seven Stud or a mixed game again.

Although 2-7 Draw would be fun as well.

    So you Trevor and Mark?

Obviously I'm +1 on the 7CS idea from the baby eater!
