  • Donk could be on a flush draw, but tight passive calls off his chips.
    GET OUT OF THE WAY!!!!
  • I read the outcome before determining what I would do because I wanted to see if my reads was right. Turns out they both had almost exactly what I thought.
The rest in white as well to avoid giving anything away to the next poster(s)

I would have probably folded there because I was pretty sure I would be up against a higher flush draw taking away many outs. But since I know the outcome this reply is slightly biased...sorry... That wasn't much help was it :(
  • For me, the key thing here is stack size. You have almost 50BBs. I fold 54 unless I have been ultra tight and there is a good chance of stealing the blinds.

As played, I see nothing wrong with folding here, even though in retrospect you gave up a fifth of your stack with 5 high. Also in retrospect, what about just checking behind this flop? If one of your non-flush straight cards comes in you are likely going to double up. I know people will look at that flop as a monster 15 out draw. But you really have 5 high and almost every other flush draw will make your hand a 6 outer.

Let's say you have 20BBs. You raise to 3.5BB and get two callers. Pot is 10.5BBs and your stack is 16.5BB. Check, check, shove. See how much easier that is?
  • i was really looking to take down the blinds and if not i still had a nice drawing hand. got callers and hit a huge draw, which isn't too bad. push, push, and now i'm thinking i'm behind. it's nice and all to look back and think that i should have checked the flop, but i'm not going to argue for a more passive play simply because of the action behind me. it's not like i could expect that (except from the donk, but i probably would have called his all in; it was the second all in that eventually scared me away).
  • I think you played it perfect. I also think your flop bet is good, the only way Im checking here is if I'm 1st to act and then trying to get all the chips in on the flop.
