Vegas flight info required.

I haven't been to vegas in over 20 years now. I have a free hotel room coming this august but need to book a flight. What's the best route to go. I see southwest has $400 flights from Buffalo, I know I can probably get it cheaper from detroit but don't really want to do the 4.5 hr drive.

Thanks.

  • Going anywhere in the US out of Buffalo is always going to be significantly cheaper than Pearson, sometimes marginally cheaper still out of Detroit, depends on day/airline. I find Southwest extremely friendly/easy to deal with... seems like flights anywhere are quite a bit higher than they were earlier in the year, fuel costs I suppose.

  • I'm flying with US Airways for my trip - anyone with positive/negative experience with them?
  • Thanks for the help, i know people who booked earlier and still got it cheaper. I'm hoping fuel costs go down by waiting.

Very aggressive pilots. Landings are an adventure. They cut almost an hour off one of my Vegas flights. I still wonder how that was possible
  • Joe my suggestion is to fly out of Buffalo as its definitely cheaper first, then secondly visit the airline sites directly.. ie. United.ca and Continental Airlines and use their flexible dates options which will find you flights 2 or 3 days before or after dates you enter which may be cheaper. I booked through united a couple of weeks ago for mid June and got it for 258 taxes included (Cdn) which was a hell of a lot cheaper than out of Pearson.
  • Joe,

Flying out of buffalo is def. the way to go. Based on driving time to Detroit vs. Buffalo, you save money in the gas alone. Be prepared though for long wais for luggage, my last 3 trips had broken luggage carousels on the return.
