New to the Forum!

Hey guys,

Hopefully this will not be billed as spam as I don't intend to "spam" this site at all.

I am a Vancouver boy that is now working for an online poker room in Antigua, so any one that wants to know anything about working for a online poker room, or living in Antigua or anything else I am happy to answer them.

The reason I signed up is I was talking to one of the boards members and he said it would be nice to have someone to answer questions about our little poker room in paradise if ever needed and to keep people updated on what I know about the Poker World.

Excited to get to know you guys! Hopefully this doesn't make me miss Canada too much :)

Greg

P.s Graham, let me know if this crosses any boundaries on the "spam" issue.

I have a friend who was involved in the development of casino software. He was bound very tightly by Non Disclosure Agreements and threats of broken knees, so I'd watch out.
  • I think you should change your name. Thought you were a Sun guy, not a Dise guy! :)
  • whats your job at the poker site?

    how do you like it?
  • Remember all the issues several members had with getting their "free" chip sets last year? Did that ever get resolved? What's different from this "Paradise" vs the old one?
  • As far as I know we all got our chips sets. FYI if you had an old paradise account make sure you use up your fpps before the end of the month. They will expire in place of a new fpp system. There are twice daily fpp freerolls with goodies such as top 10 receive chipsets / 30 players. Digicams, ipods. Plus also 1 big freeroll with wsop prizes.
  • He is the manager of Sun Poker not Paradise Poker. He just happened to use the word paradise in it's proper state and it was linkified much like if someone talks about looking at the stars at night.

I got my chip set eventually from Paradise from what it is worth :P.

Sun Poker is part of the cryptologic network, and as I have mentioned a couple times in posts in the past is a network that offers some insanely great value/benefits ideal for small/mid stakes players, and Sun Poker's promotions show by far the best insight in getting what their actual players want.
  • Welcome to the site Greg... what games do you play?

    Hey Graham,

Well in Vancouver I mostly stuck to the 1/2 NLHE AT Edgewater, river rock and bvld.

In Antigua we only have 2/5 nlhe but it is the best game i have ever played in, most people playing are clueless tourists or rich rich gamblers who just want to play cards, so you get paid off very well :)

I don't play much online, as I used to play on SunPoker but now that I work for them I can't.

I am the Poker Room manager. First off, I love it, could not ask for anything better right now. Life is great, pay is great and I live next to 3 of te nicest beaches in the world/that ive ever seen/been on.

2nd, its challenging, Crypto is a TOUGH network to deal with and i have had to push pull crawl kick punch my way through them to get my way, which hopefully you guys will see the changes over the next 3 months :)

Also, Sorry for misleading about paradise poker, i Work for SunPoker but LIVE in Paradise.

Thanks for the interest :) cheers,
    Greg
  • I am a current Vancouver boy who is interested in working in the poker industry in Antigua.

    Is this a possibility?

    Please explain.
  • lol Graham and his links, fooled me. Yeah I have nothing but good things to say about Sun Poker.

Anything is Possible. Its all about putting yourself in situations that can help you advance. I started a business called the World Pub Poker Tour and we were sponsored by SunPoker.com. This was my in in the poker world, but I know people have been hired in this business because they knew someone and were just playing poker with them, and said you should send me your resume.

So Yes this is a possibility, but you best work on your business and marketing skills in Poker to make it a reality. The best bet I can see on getting an In to this business is coming up with a New style of Affiliate Marketing, and getting contacts in the business world through that.

I am gonna be visiting Vancouver in July, and will prob be at Edgewater for some 1/2, Ill let ya know when I am there :)

  • do any of the other islands have poker/casinos (besides Bahamas)? I was recently on a cruise that stopped at St. Thomas, Barbados, St.Kitts and St. Lucia. I don't think any of these islands have casinos, although I didn't have the time to look around. I was thinking of visiting St. Lucia for a week next winter and might have to change it to Antigua :)
  • St. Maarten has a casino on every corner. Aruba has some. Turks & Caicos.

The cruise I went on, my favourite was St. Maarten, more to do there than the others.

great, figures I have never been to these islands. I know a few islands have casinos but there doesn't seem to be a dedicated poker room per say, just the typical slots and craps, etc. Do any of these island casinos have actual poker rooms?

I know St Martin Has a good Poker Room, they do tournaments and have cash games, the only thing is you need to know WHEN poker happens, as there isn't a game going on every day all day type thing. It is called Alladin Casino and has $15,000 GTD tourney on Saturdays.

St Kitts also has poker in their casino no idea what time the games happen tho.

In Antigua, we have 3 Casinos with Poker Games, the one I play at is in Jolly Harbour at the Grand Princess Casino... This casino will probably be closed soon and is super upsetting as it is near my house and has some amazing players there (by amazing I mean i get money faster there than at the bank - Literally), Kings Casino is going to be starting a game there, Kings is a DIRTY casino smells like cigerette smoke, but is probably the most played at casino so should get some regs there once it starts.. its right next to the cruise ship terminal. Finally Madison's Casino there is a sports bar up stairs and there is a 2/5 game that happens there every day, and gets about 1 full table and 1 half table normally. I wouldplay this more, as it is medical students and gamblers and none really are good, everyone you can start reading pretty quick and if you just play ABC poker you will win a lot. My winrate right now is high 80% and in 5 months playing once I week I am up 12,200 bucks to give you an idea of the game's juicyness :)

If you are going to be in the Caribbean give me a shout and I will let you know of any new games or changes for sure!
  • First of all, welcome to the forum, second, that sounds like such an awesome job and lastly, is Sun Poker looking for any software developers? :)

    Thanks for the Welcome!

SunPoker is on the crypto network so PERSONALLY we don't need any developers, this being said CRYPTO needs a million programmers. But i doubt they are hiring :P

As you can tell I have a small beef with Crypto! ;)

I'll let ya know if we are looking to hire tho for sure :)
