Ticket Holdem

Hi Guys, after a year of work with patents and printers my new way to run a draw is ready. It is based on Texas Holdem and will add some excitement to the normal picking a number out of a hat.
Ticket Holdem - The LIVE Poker Game for Large Gatherings
The game begins with a break open ticket. Each participant will get one or more. In the break open window are your down cards. At the event (Stag, Tournament, Club event) the game director will post the community cards from a standard deck of cards. Participants make their best 5 card hand and the best hand wins. That simple. Check it out and give me your feed back please.

  • Isn't there a huge likelihood that somebody's hole cards will match the board cards?

It doesn't interest me personally, but the cards look sharp. Good luck.

    LOL... good question.

    My thoughts...
    - Interesting Concept
    - Confusing Website / Annoying Sounds - I had to re-read your post a second time to figure out what it was about.
  • Your observation is good and it shows you got the concept quick.
One of the rules posted on the ticket is "Cards that match the community cards can only be used once." As a friend said that suggested this rule in development. "Sucks to be you, poker was never meant to be fair."
  • Thanks Graham, I agree and have to mute my sound. It is a template to get started with ecommerce. When things get rolling I want to redo the site.
  • Sorry, but your response to a potentially major flaw in the design of your game is "sucks to be you, poker was never meant to be fair"?

I, and I think a large majority of this forum will agree that poker was meant to be fair(sometimes cruel), but always fair.

What exactly do you mean by only used once? Does that mean that the card on your ticket holdem(tm) card that matches the board card can then not be used?

So AsKs and a dealt board of As9h3c would give you no pair?

    Explain please?
  • good luck in any case; nice to see a Canadian with a new poker business concept. Not sure how effective this concept will be in a large group setting. I guess you could give out separate prizes at an event if your hole cards match one of the board cards.
  • Why can't OP just leave the 5 board cards out of the tickets?

Just mark each ticket as participating in game #xxxxx associated with board #xxxxx

This would also help as you can include a chart as to how many winners there should be IF all the tickets are sold.

Remember: If the board cards are 4 of a kind and an ace, or a straight flush then everyone wins!!

Rather than make it a dumb luck contest, allow people to bet.

    1. People buy a ticket for $1
    2. everyone looks at their cards.
    3. At the same time, everyone shouts, "1, 2, 3" on 3 everyone either puts their hand up to signify a bet or not.
    4. Player who signified a bet pay $1and get another ticket that they open and look at...
    5. Everyone else is out and folded.
    6. Preflop play continues until 4 rounds of betting has passed or nobody bets.
    7. Flop is dealt.
8 betting continues...until all the cards are dealt or you run out of tickets/money/everyone folds
    9. Players may not trade/give away cards.
    10. If nobody bets the money is split among the remaining players.
    11. Drinks are ordered and the post game orgy moves to high gear.
  • .. Add a specially made table and a single person to dispense tickets and collect money.. and you have completely missed the point.
  • .
    11. Drinks are ordered and the post game orgy moves to high gear.

New strip poker type games are always in demand.

What about a ticket game where ... nah too perverted, I need help.

If you showed an As in the hole when an As was on the board in a real game back in the 1800s not likely they would let you play again.
In Ticket Holdem if you match a board card you can not use the card twice. Not fair perhaps but that's the rule.

My first game ever at a convention just over a week ago, over 120 people. Sold almost 600 tickets at $5.00 each or 3 for $10.00. The prize was split 4 ways. J 10 won when the board showed 8 9 Q. They split instead of a playoff.

hope your success continues. There must be some poker conventions worth hitting with your business venture.
  • Thanks, my thoughts in comming up with the idea was for stags or sports tournaments, so 20 to 100 guys would be able to have some fun with a draw. This brings the drama of an all-in bet as the flop, turn and river are revealed to a simple draw. If anyone would like a sample pack (25 tickets) to try it out email me your mailing address.
