my horrendous edmonton report
like many other players around these hear parts, i made the journey to edmonton last week, although i only played in one event, the 300+30 Limit event. the reason being that i am not a particularly great card player!
very brief: started the tourney with $5000 with of chips and at the dinner break (4 levels) i was down to around $2800. after the break i caught fire in the frist couple of levels with A10 (3 times out of 5 hands), poxket queens and pocket kings. with the queens i had a raise in front of myself in the small blind, and i re-raised before being re-raised again myself, so i just called. i then proceeded to check blind, and low and behold my queen hit with two rags, and i re-raised, she folded=i shouldve milked that pot and a very bad play by myself. Now everything starts to fall apart. I have 35o in the big blind, small blind limps in everyone else is out. flop comes 2 4 9 rainbow. SB bets, i call, turn comes a 3, now he checks, i bet, he calls and cgoes all in for the little extra he had, he turns over A2 for a pair of 2s, and ihave 35 for a pair of 3s and an open-ended straight. River card is the 5= my hheart sinks, he apologizes for hitting it as he counts up MY chips! next round of the button i catch JJ in the SB and raise with one guy who limped in EP calling. flop comes KJ5. I think for a minute and decide to bet it right out. He calls and goes all-in for whatever he had left. turns over a Q10o and low and behold hits his 9 on the turn. Table groans for me! now i am one of the short stacks and catch AK, play it poorly and am taken advantage of for it=my bad! second break, i am very short stacked at $1000. Shortly thereafter (blinds are 300, 600) i push all in in MP with K10s, everyone folds to BB, she calls, with 10 8 and naturally spikes an 8 on the river=game over, i finished somewhere in the middle of the pack.
all in all though i had a good time, played some ring games at the baccarrat and palace ( both kind of shotty card rooms to be kind) but yellowhead was really nice and i as always the ppl in edmonton were great. side note: i was surprised at how popular omaha is out there and those "split" games are.
and the way i see it, i can only get better, or so i hope!

Just wondering.
I'll be @ the Blue tomorrow for the mini tourney. If you still have some loot to spare come down...

Well I came third in my first and only tourney [chopped it 3 ways @ 3/1/1].
It was me, Duncan[the guy that won 3 in a row - gotee], and the dude that you always see @ Casino Rama.
I was chip leader for the majority of the game and when it was the three of us, Duncan rivered me twice which caused a huge blow to my stack.
I had 55 preflop @ the button, I go all-in.
Duncan calls and shows an A9
flop shows a K5Q
Turn shows a 10
River shows a J
My heart stopped...lol
I didn't like the dude from Casino Rama, he was pretty mouthy. He initially refused to chop 3 ways with a rude and arrogant "NO". After the blinds got to 32/64 and I had recovered some strength with a couple of wins I looked at him and said:
"Dude do you wanna split 3 ways now? This is the last time am going to ask you"
looking back I wish he would have said no, because after talking to Duncan we would have taken him out just on principle. UGH
sorry I left so suddenly...girlfriend issues lol
and for everyone else, no i cant get cheap flights for you, unless you can prove my mother had an illegitimate child!
