Best place for a romantic type dinner in Vegooose.

Hey All, after my thread in general poker chat about Vegas Hotel's.

I'd really like to surprise the lady with a nice night out while we are there.

Was hoping some forumers would let me know some of the nicer places they've dined in Vegas and provide a short review.

I'm guessing someone will ask what I'm looking to spend, and the truth is I don't really know. I'm a middle class civil servant with significant educational debt, who loves his girlfriend a lot. If you can weigh those things together in your consideration, I'd appreciate it.

Thank You.

  • Ive gone to a few of the restaurants there, so it really depends what you are looking for (type of food, romantic setting, etc.). Here are some of the places I have been:

N9NE Steakhouse (Palms) - Really cool place, but more of a party atmosphere than a date. Not to mention, really expensive.

Daniel Boulud (Wynn) - This would probably be my best recommendation for something romantic. Dinner would prob be around $200 for 2, but its in the Wynn and overlooks their Pond where there are all sorts of light shows. Great food also!

Wing Lei (Wynn) - Over-priced Chinese food... it was good, but not worth the money.

B&B (Mario Battali's restaurant at the Venetian) - Really good Italian food, decently priced, nicer romantic setting.

Mon Ami Gabi (Paris) - Really nice French Bistro. Good place to eat outdoors and watch the fountains at the Bellagio.

You can't go wrong with any of Bobby Flay's restaurants if you like a good steak.

Vegas has so many good restaurants that it won't be hard to find a good one.

    Enjoy!
  • Avoid the Plaza's $7.77 buffet unless you like drinking your eggs in a glass.

Edit: Colleagues went to some steak joint at the V and said it was awesome. About $200 for two.
  • We booked in at B and B at the Venetian. It looked good, and we're both suckers for Italian food.

Thanks for the list GRaham, most appreciated.
  • Probably the Chicken Ranch. The all you can eat special is quite romantic. I'm sure you can order Italian there, but they have entrees from around the world.
  • Dino.

I took my wife here for her birthday last summer.

Cocktails, apps, entre's, dessert and a bottle of wine put me at $250 including tip. She had surf and turf and I had a filet with some ahi tuna sashimi to start.

It is quite small and an intimate setting, food was delicious and the service was outstanding as well.

There were some other places we went to as well if this is not your flavor but this was my fav.

McDonalds! Best quality control in the world!
  • Aureole in Mandalay Bay - sit in the Swan Court and do the tasting menu. I believe it's $95pp, and you can get wine paired with each course for an additional $45/pp. Chris and I tried this once, and have gone back almost every single time we've been the Vegas - it's amazing.

For a surprising treat, try Hugo's Cellar in The Four Queens on Freemont Street. It's a steakhouse with an old-school Vegas vibe (I can imagine The Rat Pack eating there after a show). All ladies get presented with a rose when they arrive, they do a special table-side salad thing, and the steaks are amazing. Very reasonably priced and it's very cosy and romantic.
  • I took my gf to the Spearmint Rhino, but she's likely into different stuff than your gf.

For something different (not romantic, but a fun small place) the oyster bar at Red Rock is nice.

Restaurant in the Venetian....just off the Casino floor on the main level. Really great food at reasonable (for vegas) prices. It's called the Grand lux cafe. I enjoyed it.
  • Isn't your wife pregnant Dino?

Work in a pedicure and foot massage at the spa, and then pick her up for dinner from there for HUGE bonus points. (Trust me, her feet/back will hurt if you're walking around doing tourist stuff.)

FYI, there are now TWO Grand Lux Cafes: One in the Venetian and One in Palazzo. The one in Palazzo is usually empty.

I don't think you are supposed to do pedicures when you are up a stump.

edit: searched it and they are to avoid the massage part. 6 X increase in chances of bloodclots
  • source please? I wouldn't advocate a back massage, but a foot one used to be fine.
  • Pedicures in Pregnancy

But if you’ve ever had a pedicure before, you know that the massage doesn’t just concentrate on your feet—it goes all the way up to your knees. This is a wonderful way to relieve the pain and pressure you are feeling due to carrying all that extra weight. But this can also be dangerous if you have a blood clot. Recent studies suggest that a woman’s overall risk for blood clots during pregnancy is six times greater than in non-pregnant women. This risk continues into the first few months postpartum as well.
  • that's faulty, the risk is 6 times higher in pregnancy, not because of the pedicure.

    Reading link now, thanks.
  • Read, I don't think that this is anymore than over-the-top scare nonsense. They've provided absolutely no proof.

If that's your bag, make sure you buy her "What to expect when you're Expecting" and you two can have a thoroughly terrifying pregnancy. The massage is fine, but call your Ob and have his/her nurse laugh at you first.

Isn't everything more dangerous with a blood clot?

I wrote this prior to following up on what exactly the spearmint rhino is.

It would appear now that my comments were grossly inappropriate.

    My apologies.

    Best,

You never know, it could be Mario on the Kristy account
  • no chance...you've seen/heard the shit I've done to Mark and Mario, I sleep with one eye open and all my passwords safe and secure.

Edit: though I was thinking earlier today it would be funny to start a blog of what goes down here...

    (no, not me)
  • A: She does sleep with her eye open, and I'm an expert at the "please don't wake up game"

B: We do enough fucked up shit when awake to make point A fairly moot.

  • Not sure if anyone said this, I don't read well.

    Andre's on 6th Street.
  • I hope I am not too late to respond to this thread.

My wife and I had a great meal at Olives in the Bellagio. When you make a reservation make sure to request a table al fresco. You can watch the Bellagio fountains while you eat.

I think I paid around $200 for two drinks, a bottle of red and our meals.
