Point Edward / Sarnia Casino Gets NL

Sorry this is late , but i thought someone else would have posted this buy now.

POINT EDWARD CHARITY CASINO - Now has 1-2 NL 100 max buy in

The only catch is there is 100 max bet , but that does not come into play too much as most bets even big ones in 1 2 NL are under 100 except on the river or when you have the nuts. I played 5 sessions a week for the last two weeks and the games are good. There are usually 1 or 2 good players and everyone else is just a limit player. Since the casino has had limit only for the last 8 years the games are full of people who have neverplayed NL cash just NL tournys and limit cash.

My record for the last 10 sessions is full of small losses for 1 or 2 buy ins and huge wins. These people dont lay hands down !!!! Ever !!! I had ak call a 100 re raise on a 8 high flop, i had top set , no just just ak.

So when you get cards you get paid , i am up 2980 in 10 sessions and my biggest cash out was for 1100 but i had 200 in the game.

I never continuation bet ever because everyones a calling station, I would say i am a med strength player and i am killing the game. I am comfortable playing 2 5 nl in detriot , but now that 1 2 is so juicy i am gonna stay in town.

Action will be crazy in september when they have the next bluewater classic.

aaron :)

  • darn, I thought you were referring to the GBH :( Got to get the eyes checked.
  • Yum. Yum. Gimmie sum.
  • oh yeah, up 30 BI in 10 sessions = WOW

    Live = WOW

    Cap game = WOW

  • its actually not a huge deal in this game , the people are crazy , most of the players have never cracked a holdem book let alone nl holdem.

I seem a 900 pot , 9 BI's , it was raised reraised and rereraised all in with 3 players for around 300 each , aa vs 99 vs 66 , 9 hit a set , but all betting was preflop. There are prolly 100 regular limit players all trying to learn nolimit , they cant even get a list of more than 5 players who want to play limit , they have not had a limit table in 2 weeks.

I just stay away from the young internet players , who actually know what they are doing an im fine.

I dont know how many 300 pots i seen with a 7 and a 6 chopping a pot cause there kickers dont play.

the games are juicy , i live here , but it would prolly be worth getting a 50.00 hotel here to play on the weekends.
  • Whats rake structure like?

I'm heading down this weekend to have a look. My buddy went said was quite juicy juicy with all the regs, who were pretty terrible at FL, let alone NL.

Any word on if they will ever start bigger table? 2-5 perhaps? 200 max should be fun :) They sometimes ran bigger FL games there then 5-10, but maybe they don't have licneces for larger then 1-2 NL...

Thanks, one would have thought that the casino or OLG would be doing their job and widely publicizing this huge change! Hopefully, the Blue Water Classic Poker Event won't continue to be such a well-kept secret and the details will be available on the Internet well before September.

So with the $100 maximum bet, each player was allowed to raise $100 more each time? It then becomes like a 100/100 Limit game! Once the pot gets over $100, you cannot bet enough to protect against many draws.

Anyway, it's great that NL is finally available in a charity casino. Hopefully, NL will soon be available at the other Limit casinos, including Brantford, CNE Casino and Western Fair Casino.

Unlikely for CNE/Western Fair as their max bet is $25 (for CNE is at least) and afaik its not likely to change.

RAKE is 10% up to 5 dollars , not to great but the bad players make it a good game.

The poker manager at point edward put in to get 100 max bet nl like 2 years ago and they just got it approved, if they do request to have a 200 max buy in game with 100 max bet it would prolly take just as long , the olg approves things at a snails pace.

i played last night , it was a great game, they had 4 tables going on a wednesday which is unheard of for this casino , normally they would have one linit game if any , the game was real good , until around 3 am when just me and a couple internet whiz kids were left , it was like the three tables merged into one table with all the chips , avg stack was 600.00 , time to go no more donkeys by 3. :)

Well usually people are playing with between 100 and 200 stacks , in this rare case there were 3 larger than normal stacks, 66 utg made it 12 to go , 99 raised to 112 to go (100 max raise), then aa made it 212 to go , 66 went all in for 312 (maybe a bluff wtf , i dont know), 99 and aa called every one had around 300-320.

you will have to see it to believe it
  • I think I posted a while back that I had heard this was coming. Glad to know I'm not completely insane.

I grew up in Sarnia as well, and played a lot there when I lived in the area. The 5-10 game was ridiculous, but on nights you ran good it was very very profitable.

Guess I'll check it out when I'm back in the fall.
