Best Song of the last year?

Not the best song ever,
not the most musically/technically impressive...

the one that elicits the strongest response from you. (I know, I left the door open for a dirty response..but that's valid too, go ahead!)

This song makes me bounce in my seat everytime I hear it on the radio

  • Great starter Kristy.

I can't say I'm a big Feist fan, when I first heard the song it didn't really do much for me, but when I saw this live performance I fell in love.

YouTube - Feist - I Feel It All on Colbert Report
  • Looks like youtube took both videos down.
  • no, its you...they still work fine

    Great song HM
  • on the stations I listen to.
So to throw a curve for the more senior faction of the forum.
How about alltime toe tappin', knee slappin tunes?

Could I suggest... Billy Joel "Piano Man"

Best Line "When I wore a younger mans clothes"

I think you forgot your meds, that song came out at least 3 years ago.
  • Oops.

    See below.
  • YouTube - The National- "Apartment Story"

Not sure if this is the best song of the last year, but it's certainly a great one.

This band can do little wrong in my opinion though.
  • #1) I-95 - Fountains of Wayne.

#2) The State of Massachusetts - Dropkick Murphys.

I'm not cool enough to find links.

  • Allow me to indie rock fag-out:

    1. The Courteeners - Cavorting and Snorting

    2. Pull Tiger Tail - Let's Lightning

    3. The Maccabees - About your Dress

    4. The Little Ones - Lovers Who Uncover

    5. The Cribs - I'm a Realist

Honorable mentions: The View - Wasted Little DJs, You Say party! We say Die! - Monster, Dartz! - Once Twice Again, Little Man Tate - European Lover, The Rumble Strips - Alarm Clock, The Slack Republic - Overcompensating

Yes, I love jangly-indie pop rock.

+1. This is a terrific song. I also enjoyed "Radio Nowhere" by THE BOSS, Bruce Springsteen.

Should have been with me on Saturday night for the Stephen Malkmus/Joggers show here in Vancouver.

He pretty much perfected the art, although I must say anymore he just likes to wank on the guitar in these 10 minute drone jams.

It still shocks me every time I learn someone on the forum has good taste in music.

All Aces is bit of a fan of the Indie Rock as well as I recall.
  • Unlike this guy I am smart enough.

Just not COOL enough to do it for a song. But clearly I'd do it for my ego.

Very nice dino. I especially like the cameo appearance by Kristy....watch for it at 2:21.
  • I don't actually look like that do I? Now I'm worried...I'm MSNing someone to find out if I have a man-jaw, like her.

Of course not Kristy.....you look way better than that. I noticed the eyes/hair similarity more. I had the block out the spaghetti straps on the dress to make it work.....everyone knows you go with strapless. ;)

To me the words "All Time" includes up to 3 years and even more, just my opinion. By the way Piano Man by Billy Joel recorded 1973.

Google Piano Man listen to the more than 3 year old video

  • Best Album In Rainbows I & II by Radiohead.

'All I need' is one of the best. It totally trances you out then runs up to an intense climax. My take is it is someone totally addicted to something, perhaps a drug, so much so that it is all they can think about... all they need.

    YES!
  • My favourite is probably Silver Lining by Rilo Kiley

I also like Four Winds by Bright Eyes and I'm also on board with Radio Nowhere and The State of Massachusetts
  • Heard this on the radio today...I can't believe I forgot it!

YouTube - Silversun Pickups - Lazy Eye
  • Good thread idea, I love getting exposed to music I haven't heard before.

Saying which is the best is really hard. I can hardly make a top 40 favourites list, let alone the best. But here's some I've been into over the last year or so.

Newfie band, I don't know any of their other music, but I really like this song.

YouTube - Hey Rosetta! "Yes! Yes! Yes!"

Muse is a great band, picked this song because of the cool video that goes with it. (Not the actual music video)

    Street Body Surfing

No video for this one, but it's my favourite off the new White Stripes Album

YouTube - The White Stripes a martyr for my love for you

A little in your face with this video, but I like this one. Hope he does music with System again.

YouTube - Serj Tankian - Empty Walls

Long post, maybe I'll post some more in another one.
