despite the obvious animosity against PG, I still enjoyed his series of books, and did find some gems of knowledge and strategy in them. As a pro, though, he falls way short of many, but I still enjoyed his writing technique.

At what point do you think he was going to fold? His mouse was never over the fold button from what I can see and even if it was it doesnt really mean anything... most times when i make a big call i have my mouse hovering over the fold button before i decide their line makes no sense and then i click the call button. That being said it is very easy to comment on how his line made no sense after you have called and won than to do it before you call... he didnt really say much before he called and then after he called and was right he went on about why he called... if he was really confident in his read he would have said that before calling on the river.
he didnt really say much before he called and then after he called and was right he went on about why he called
On the turn Gordon leads for a full pot.
"Why is he betting so much?"
"I don't think he has anything," as he clicks call.
Personally I think the sickest reads are made by BBC_Z. He made a read on the guys mouse that was awesome. It looked to the uninitiated eye that the cursor went directly to the call button but the Z could see the exact moment the guy changed his mind from call to fold. God dam soul read if you ask me.
I heard that one time BBC_Z walked up to one of the Queens guards in front of Buckingham Palace and correctly analyzed the soldiers finances, marital status, sexual preference and political allegiance. The entire time the guard never even moved.

SHENANIGANS, I say. I talked to a guy that WAS THERE. The guard blinked at least twice in the 10 minutes "Z" was studying him. Rigged, IMO.
i really don't understand how the gordon video shows he's 'not a pro'. at best one can argue good read by his opponent, but just because phil tried to make a play and got caught doesn't mean he's 'not a pro'. believe it or not, i'm 100% positive that all the 'pros' have got caught bluffing before (and even making mistakes from time to time...heaven forbid!). i just don't understand what people are trying to get at in this thread.

People like to hate on Phil Gordon because he is a know-it-all and a douche bag. I see him consistently whining on video and in his articles. Personally I don't like him at all.
Interesting. I first got interested in poker watching the celebrity showdown on Sundays that he used to host. I liked him at that time and the first poker book I bought was his. I continued to read what he wrote but it quickly went downhill when he was constantly whining about how the game was changing and all the internet players were dumbing it down.
In this video he gets his money in bad, sucks out and then bluffs it all back off in like ??? 4 minutes?? That is funny because I don't like him.
The video with Lindgren shows the truth really. For Gordon to sit there all smug and make a comment that it was a good call (in a hand he was not involved in) like he had a big read on Lindgren is stupid for a lot of reasons:
-Anyone can make hero calls when it is not their money.
-It is easy for him to be right after the fact.
-It is extremely insulting to Eric Lindgren and real case of poor etiquette
Guy is a goof and if I had a stepladder I would climb to the top of it and kick him in the nut sack.

But..he's not a pro.
JDS Vs. Phil Gordon
haha. thank you for this, I came.
Lindgren is a fan as well apparently.

It was beauty. He made a read on the bet size and went with it.
If you watch his mouse he was going to fold, realised that it's being filmed and said fk it I'm calling.
It's survivorship bias. If he loses the hand, he doesn't post the video. If he wins, he gives it to the world.

"Oh, turned out to be the right call - here's the reasoning now"

The proof that he's not a pro is that he's not a winning player.
The fact that he's not a pro is irrelevant to me, I just bring it up because he's a douche.
ok i get it
