What kind of playing cards do you use?

Here is my new favourite: Custom Poker Chips

Second place: GEMACO Plastic Poker Cards - Perfectly Suited Bridge Jumbo Index

Obviously, 100% plastic is the way to go. My preferences now are bridge size due to their smaller size making it easier to shuffle and handle and jumbo index which makes flops easy to see by the whole table.

Other opinions?

  • Mostly a Copaq player. Bought 2 sets a couple of years back and still using them every week.

Got a set of Kem's for Christmas, their nice too, but when you play with the Copaq's and merge to the table playing Kem's, it takes a bit to adjust to the size.

As far as chips go, my step son got me a beautiful set for Christmas couple years back. Don't know what brand they are, but they're 14gram tricolour and absolutely beautiful.
  • my first ever set of plastics copag epocs, still my favourite, but i get a lot of groans when they are used

i've since bought a dozen more sets from different manufacturers. my favourites are usually the copag or modiano brands, 4 pips, bridge sized. the more unique they are, the more i usually like them.
  • definitely want to buy copags, is the only way to get them online?
  • Modianos are THE BEST. I'm probably getting some acetates soon, but the poker vision cards from them are excellent. My group loves them.

You can buy Copaqs in any game store. Usually anywhere from $30 to $40 a set. Kems abit more. There used to be a member here that was selling them for $20/set, but I haven't seen him in quite sometime now.

Anyone know an online store that sells Copaqs and Kems, AND ships to canada? (other than ebay of course. :) )

Yes checkout my first link - Custom Poker Chips (note they have a currency selector which has $Cdn)

This set of Copag (for example) shipped to my house in Ottawa for $23.26Cdn total and got by Customs.

  • I think i still have to pick my
Gemaco (6021) deck as my favourite.

I just got a deck of Davinci's (last week)
which I really like. Havent really broken
them in yet, but they are less stiff than
my Modiano's and stiffer than my Copags
(which i think is really nice compromise).

Kems are nice cards too, but i'd still pick
Gemaco's if i could only have one deck.
  • Have to disagree with you. Modiano's have the feel/heft of a paper card, with the durability of plastic. Much better looking cour cards as well, though this is a subtle difference.
  • Copags are the best-value cards. I love the poker size JUMBO index Copags for both dealing and playing. I've seen too much money lost because the players at the end of the table couldn't easily see the cards in the middle, which has happened to me too. :-[ I hate sitting on the corners of the wide 11-12-person tables and trying to see bridge-sized cards with small graphics.

Copag is celebrating its 100th year anniversary this year. My favourite deck has to be their limited edition commemorative Centennial playing card set in a collectible tin box.

I've done business with them and I was very satisfied.
