Caesars Windsor

I was working in Windsor the last couple of days so I decided of course to check out the poker room.

I haven't seen the casino since March 2006. The new renovations look fantastic.

I prefer limit but every table was $1-$2, or $2-$5 NL. I sat down with $200 at a $1-$2 table and played ultra tight. My first 10 hands I was dealt complete garbage and only played my big blind.

Here are 3 hands which were quite memorable.

#1...Around my 15th I raised from the button $10 with J10 off. Two players called including the BB.

Flop 10 10 Q.
BB checks
I bet $5 and both call.

Turn is a J giving me a boat.
BB goes all-in with his remaining $36.
I call hoping the other player calls or raises. He folds.
BB shows A10 for trips and I show my boat.

River is an Ace giving him a higher boat.

I don't even flinch. However inside I am pissed as I need all the help in NL.

Hand#2...
Two players are head to head.

Player #1 checks when a 3rd club hits the board which also leaves a pair of fours on a board of Kc 4d Jc 7d 4c.
Player #2 bets $20 into a $60 pot.
Player #1 reraises tp $200.
Player #2 asks #1 if he hit his flush. Player #2 hums and haws for about 90 seconds before calling.

Player #1 shows a King high flush.

Player #2 yells "Yes" and shows K4 off for a full house.

The table erupts and, Player #1 doesn't really say much but he does pick up his remaining $100 and goes over to another table to tell some friends about the slow roll. Player #2 actually said that the he thougt the other guy might have a better fullhouse.

Hand#3...

I am in BB with KJh, there are two callers pre-flop.

Flop is Kd, 2h, 4h.

I bet $10, player to my left calls, other player folds.

Turn is the 8h giving me a King high flush.
I check, he bets $20, I push all-in with my remaining $60.
He thinks for about a minute and calls showing pocket 8's for trips.

River is the 8s giving him quads for the 2nd time in less than a 1/2 hr.

I say nice hand and head back to my hotel.

  • Have they brought in their new chips yet?
  • Since Casino Windsor is now owned by Harrah's, I hope they will bring the WSOP to Canada.

  • FYI, It's operated by Harrah's.. Owned by the gov't.
  • sounds like one of my afternoon sessions at Rama, lol. Seriously, some bad luck with these hands:

    Hand #1 - you got your money in ahead and he had three outs. He got lucky, such is the game of poker;

Hand #2 - its hard to get away from a decent flush; for future reference, whenever the board pairs, be very concerned about a full house, as you found out. If you raised to $40 and he went all-in, would you have called? If yes, no change in result. If no, then you may have saved yourself some money.

Hand # 3 - again, you got your money in ahead and got unlucky. He hit quads and had some outs with the full house but you made the right move in any case.

Kind of shows the hazzards of no limit vs limit. Think long-term and these variances shouldn't impact your profits. I would rather be in your shoes in #1 and #3 than the other guy, that's for sure.

I think I'll be sticking to limit games at the casino's. My friends have started playing a NL cash game after we play a sit-n-go so I am hoping to learn the nuances of no limit.

I have been cashing in playing small limit s&g's on Stars. I am hoping to slowly build my bankroll in this fashion.
