UB Cross Canada Tour, Annie Duke version

Well, how was her version of the tour so far? We all know how Phil's was...

    Do you care to elaborate?

What has she won in the last 3 years? She doesn't seem to be an entertaining speaker, plus I have heard several interview with her, where she comes off as a bit of a jackass. Also, there have been many situations posted on forums where people played with her and said she acted very poorly. Should I go on?

You can go on if you like. I just found your original post uninformative. I thought that the point of a forum was to share ideas and information.

I don't know what Annie Duke has won in the last three years. I have not tracked her tournament or cash game play live or online. In general I think that you can be a great coach without being a great player. Phil Hellmuth has won more WSOP bracelets than anyone and that didn't seem to help his ability to be entertaining or helpful at the first symposium.

I think the only players I would pay to see would be Negreanu or Brunson. Guy Laiberte would be cool to see also, but not for his poker skills.
  • what happened at phils?

There is a whole thread on this. I suggest starting here:

  • WOW...the Annie Duke version must have been so good, that people are still trying to absorb all the information before they chime in on what happened!
  • I don't think anyone went.:)

Either that, or they were sworn to secrecy.

Would you want to share the secrets of playing A3suited UTG???
  • Where is the next one? Maybe after the Toronto one everyone realized what a waste of money it was. The loot bag was a joke and Phil complainng about Jamie Gold made me laugh. Jamie talks to everyone when he is in a hand. Thats his style.

Phil Hellmuth: Great player, lousy teacher.
Rest of UB crew: Mediocre "pros", lousy teachers
Jamie Gold: Had such a bizzare style it won him the WSOP ME, and nothing else, he's junk.
    Loot bag: junk
  • Jamie Gold has a very bizarre style but he is a notorious bluffer. Watch him on high stakes and he is just crazy. He has even stated he wants to go down as the best bluffer ever.

You want a bluff? Phil Hellmuth vs Mike Matusow, 72o vs KK, and the mouth folds...Gold could not pull that off... ever.
  • I actually like her advanced dvd.
It helped me spot more tells.
She was into reading fbi journals before it became popular.
I've used the blink rate tell she mentions to spot people bluffing.
if it was free i'd definitely go see her.
  • Better bluff. Yukon Brad getting Ivey to fold KK on high stakes. I think that is one of the best ever. Phils was good because he took it to the river but Brad betting 300,000 on the flop with nothing is classic.

I'd add that Mike is intimidated by Phil to a degree and tends to give him the benefit of the doubt and fold in places he shouldn't against him.

More information on this advanced DVD please?
  • So far we have determined that:
    a) BOTH Phils have had more memorable bluffs than Jamie Gold, who wants to be known for his bluffs,
    b) Annie Duke is worth seeing...free
    c) No one went to either tour stop in Montreal or Ottawa
