  • If he is open-raising often I push. You need to get some chips while your stack is still large enough to steal. If I lose I open another sng.
  • ^^^^^
    What he said.
You are running out of time and need to make a move.
AJ while not great sounds like it could be ahead of his range or atleast racing and with < 10BB I'd take a race
  • Heres how it played out:

  • see, you won? that means i was right!
  • Yeah lol, the next hand after that I picked up Aces and the guy was pissed off about that hand for some reason and went all in. I took the chip lead and knocked him out. This hand turned the tourney around.
  • I think this is one of the things I play differently from most people..

I'd call to see the flop because of exactly what happened, you whiffed 100% on the flop. I would have folded to a bet and lived to fight another day.

I'm not in that "Just open another one" mentality yet. Any resources I should be referring to, to help educate me in this playstyle?
  • What he's talking about is that with under the 10 BB's or around it, with probably something like A10+ would be a pushing type hand, hoping for at least a race. If you lose the 50/50 theres nothing you could really do about it. Just fire up another one and forget about what happened in the last one.
  • Hmm.. Your SnG has broken down into 6 players at the 75/150 level.. This means that you should be able to isolate one or two players to constantly steal blinds from to survive..

If you don't have that page in your book, then push. If you do I can justify a fold.

Can you elaborate more on blind stealing....

I don't doubt that isolating and stealing blinds is profitable.

But here you are also way ahead of the villains range.

This is a clear +EV push.
I'm certainly not good enough at small ball to pass up this much EV.
I doubt anyone not named Phil can claim to be either.
  • All I'm saying is that Hero has options to survive that don't involve coin flips due to the unique way that this SnG has broken down.
  • With the range you say this guy opens with, shoving is the only option... if he has a better hand it is a cooler
  • ohhhh why thank you:) :)
