My best shot at the WSOP?

So, I was able to acquire a ticket into this event.

http://www.koolfm.com/contest/public/index.php?display=view&contest_id=880

From the looks of it, I have to battle 250 players online for a seat into the Main Event.

Anyone else get in?

I just checked. The contest closed March 16th.

    Good luck, stpboy!

  • thats pretty solid, i wish something like that would go down around here.. good luck man!
  • I didn't win in the prelim round, but got this email today.
You recently registered for the Just Jacks Poker Camp contest on
KoolFM. Although you did not originally win, we have had winners
decline their seats as they are not able to attend.

We do not want these promotional seats to go to waste so we redrew
from the contest list and you won. Below is the GC# that will give
you free entry to the camp this coming Saturday March 29/08 at the
    Waterloo Inn Conference Hotel.

I am going to see if I can swing it. Shannon - any word on what site the wsop package will be played on? You still going?
  • lots online site is offer seat to WSOP Mainevent now
FTP has 1 freeroll to WSOP ME per week.
50 seat available, 1 seat give away per week.
    all you have to do.
1st time deposit for 1 ticket
refer a friend for 1 ticket
gather 3000 ftpp per week for 1 ticket.
i currently have 4 ticket, but i haven't try it. i'm gonna start soon.

  • To those familiar with other sites, how do you qualify for their WSOP freerolls?

  • To get into the 250 person freeroll, you have to attend at least 1 hour of a poker camp in Waterloo this Saturday.

The freeroll will be played on Everest poker.

I actually won two tickets - look here for info on how to get the other ticket.

Pokerroom has 2x daily freerolls where 250/3000 people win a ticket to a 2nd tourney which awards a WSOP seat. No requirements to enter.

Qualified via this route today for the Day 1 final Apr.14.

Poker Bonus, Promotions, WSOP 2008, satellite tournaments and spec

However I'm finding the satellites easy pickings. Find a $10 or $20 rebuy and the field is so thin by the time the rebuys end it is ridiculous. One $20 sat had 7 people left after one hour and one seat to the final is always guaranteed.

I've picked up this week so far:
$100 WSOP Bounty tourney ticket for Apr. 12
    2 - $500k $235 tickets Apr.6 and May.3
$540 WSOP final ticket this Saturday.

So that's 3 shots now at the WSOP and two shots in $500k guaranteed tourneys.
  • Yup out of 4 pokerroom wsop rebuy sats i've won 2 $500 seats so far.
  • Ok Waterlooser, stpboy and I attended the camp in Waterloo today. There were probably others from here there as well but I didn't recognize them. Compared to the UB fiasco this was excellent. James the presenter was obviously well qualified, his presentation was well organized and seemed to hit the majority of his target audience. While it may have been a little simplistic for some of the more sophisticated on here anyone could learn something from it. Now for the best part. All who attended today get a free shot at the 10K WSOP ME seat. Or if the winner chooses he/she can use it for the NA WPT 10K event in Niagara this year. Since there were only about 130 in attendance today it means a 1/130 shot, better than almost any satellite I can think of. It will be played on Everest poker tomorrow at 1PM EST. Good luck to all playing. Thanks again Adam for the GC....
P.S. JustJacks also runs a regular league with more WSOP seats as prizes on a regular basis at Everest. You may want to consider it, I am..
  • Yes I would have to agree with Compuease here. Any level of player can find this poker academy beneficial. For myself many of the concepts were review, as in I have heard of them and applied them at times, being able to review them definately brings the concepts to the forefront of my mind and hopefully I will be more consistent in my play.

The chance today at the WSOP ME is currently sitting at 1/76 players t-1 hour and 22 minutes.

I saw four other forumers their: Compuease, Oragami, Liquidfire and Waterlooser.

We promoted the forum to James at the second break. He would be a nice addition to some of the debates here.

Anyway, wish us luck. I'm going to get a coffee..

  • Update:

    Currently stpboy 19/85

    compuease 41/85
  • What site again?

    Best of luck all!
  • Out. Darn. Death was AQ suited vs. 99. Didn't improve.

Key hand, AKd on the button, did a massive overraise with 2 limpers. Only 2 callers.

flop K57, player in the SB had 55, ouch.
  • stp 14/67
    comp 39/67

waterlooser out I believe.. in 75th (AQ vs 99 didnt improve)

    everest poker
  • At the first break

    Comp 39/65~ played 2 hands I believe

none past flop... lol, thats just me
  • well that's my luck, called with pocket 5's in late position, 6 or 7 to the flop of Q,9,5. Checked to me I bet 1/3 pot, late position raises, I push, he thinks and calls with 2 pr, Q,9. Turn blank, river 9 of course and I'm out in 58th. GL Shannon.... Will continue to rail. We have 4% of each other...
  • Similar fate for me...

I'd went card dead for awhile and had been playing pretty tight.

I pick up tens in MP and raise to 350 (blinds 50/100)
Dude in LP that previous hand re-raised with K10 and then called an allin with it re-raises me to 1200. I have 1700 left if I just call. Tough decision. I end up just calling as I feel pretty good about my post flop/short stack playing ability. Not saying it's the best play here but it's a play nonetheless.

Flop 10 Q A rainbow. I check, he puts me all in and I call. He shows bullets.

    GG. 45/101

  • Busted out 6th .. bah
the chip leader had like 60k and everyone else was 13-15k so no one really stood a chance.. haha

oh well.. did any of you play the league? I played the league and got in to round 2..
  • The best chance to qualify for the WSOP ME is the pokerstars steps SNGS.

    Step 1 only costs $7.50

You don't have to win each step, only finish in the top 2 to advance. 3-5 also pays out as well. Step 6 is the final step where the winner will get the $12500 package. 2-6 also get cash prizes at the 6th step.
  • Yeah and in Step 6 you get to play against all the pros who buy in directly while Stars makes millions off the rake you generated getting there.

This was a 1/101 shot that at max cost $90. Pretty good odds..

Yes you do have some top players buying in directly to step 6, but in a 1 table sng - luck will play a huge factor. Play very tight in the first 3-4 levels, then it just turns into a shovefest where the pro's edge is greatly minimized.

I've made it to step 6 and will be playing it tonight sometime probably. I'm table selecting and waiting for a good line up.

If you're a winning SNG player - you should have no problems getting to step 5 or 6. Winning it will depend on how much luck is on your side.
  • Came in 2nd - made a dumb mistake HU, but I had a shot to win and blew it.

Oh well, turned $7.50 into $1500 - so not all that bad. Try again now.
  • Damn nice try.
