I had faith in the cards ...

We play hold'em at lunch using skittles (very durable ... not recommended to eat any that are used in game) and come to the table with 100 skittle points (reds = 5, orange = 4, yellow = 3, brown/purple = 2, green = 1).

I get delt pocket jacks.

SB : 2
BB : 4 (me)

pos #3 : folds
pos #4 : folds
pos #5 : raises 8
pos #6 : calls
pos #1 : folds
pos #2 : (me) calls

FLOP : AT3 (rainbow)

pos #2 : checks
pos #5 : raises 10
pos #6 : calls
pos #2 : calls

TURN : Q

pos #2 : checks
pos #5 : raises 10
pos #6 : calls 10, raises 10
pos #2 : calls 20
pos #5 : calls 10

RIVER : K

(me pos #2 ... hymmed and hawed ... stalled .. .thought as I tried not to smile)

pos #2 : pushed all in (about 60 (ish) points)
pos #5 : pushed all in immediately (less than 60 points)
pos #6 : folds (I had pegged him with at least an ace anyway)

I turned over my pocket jacks and sat there.
pos #5 turns over pocket 10's and proclaimed his victory with trip 10's

I pointed out that a straight beats trips. Re-examining the board pos #5 gathered his belongings and headed back to his desk.

Today was a good day.

  • Do you ever find that the loser of the hand will eat his lost skittles rather than give them to the winner? I would think it'd be rampant in a consumable chip game.. :)
  • It's a running joke among us ... if you come down to our area and there is a bowl of skittles and we offer some to you to munch on ... don't.

    hehe
  • Moe: Homer, you want any cards? [Homer gags] Homer! [hits Homer; he coughs up a blue chip]

Homer: Whoo! Don't try to eat these so-called "chips".
