Player's Cruise Sept 20-25

http://playerscruise.com/saildates/sep-20-08.html

$334 for an inside cabin for 5 days. Good price.

At this point I am 80% sure I am taking this cruise. Just putting it out there in case any other forumers want to come along.

Options may include driving down, hitting other casinos along the way.

  • This looks very tantalizing.... I think I might go in September.... just have to find a cheap way to get across country lol
  • I went on a RC cruise.
It featured the worst poker dealers I've ever seen.
They didn't even know how to pitch cards...
More than half the time they awarded the pot to the wrong person.
That didn't matter much since the rake was so high there was no way the game could be even remotely profitable.
The rake was 10% max $15.
The max buyin was $500 on a 2/5 table.
The pit didn't know anything better.
They ran a $80 buy in tournament but could not say what the prize was for winning (apparently some kind of sat to tourney for cruise)

I'd check to see if the people running the poker can at least name 2 letters in the word "poker"

    My advice.

Bring a set of chips and cards and set up your own game in the card lounge.
Before you go find out how much the rake is in the 1/3NL and 3/6 cash games. Ask how much they rake off the $40 and $100 tournaments?

Remember you can't up and go to another casino when you're at sea, and online is way too expensive via the $3/min charges.
  • This looks like a good time, 330$ for 5 days on a ship...plus poker BR, some site seeing etc. I might have to check it out.......if i could find a cheap way to get to florida.
  • $330 for a 5 day cruise isn't bad on its own even without poker

Schabs, I have seen sales of seats that flys to Ft. Lauderdale from Pearson, or even Buffalo for about $250 or less on rare days...so its not too bad
  • Anything out of western canada that you know of? I'm one of few forumers from the west.

Before you start trashing my thread why don't you go and actually read the website first? This has nothing to do with RC. Player's cruise has their own private cardroom with their own dealers.

I suppose if you didn't like their cardroom THEN you could go and play in RC's casino.
  • Juice on the $220s is $40. Cash games 10% up to $6.
  • Yeah it would be nice to find a cheap way out to the East from Westren Canada.... I am in BC so it is going to cost me an arm and a leg just to get out there lol... but if I can find a way I am so getting on that ship

I flew out of nanaimo for $220 one way about a year ago. But that was only 3 weeks ahead of time. If you are booking now, you should be able to get $180 or thereabouts
  • I would at least upg to the ocean view. Only a little bit more and will be worth it to help sea sickness.

    Sorry,

    I stand corrected.

It was not my intention to trash your thread, just to warn of the problems that I've had on the Rc cruise I went on.
  • Alright thanks... I will definitley look into that and see what kind of figures I can come up with
  • Managed to get a few couples interested in going, but after contacting the coordinator (John Smiley) learned that the September cruise has been cancelled due to lack of interest. The May one is still a go though, but it'll be the only one for '08.
  • Yeah the link is gone. :(
