I am a bitter... bitter man.

Just watched episode 9 of the WSOP Championship. Getting busted in 94th place is hurting a lot more right now than it did a few months ago...

On day three when I was at the TV table everyone had HUGE stacks. At one point Gus Hanson has 120K and he was average for the tournament, but he was the smallest stack at the table. It was a tough table with a lot of BIG stacks.

Here is that part that has me smarting today... Of the ten of us at the TV table when there were 250 players left in the tournament, 4 made the final table! Glen Hughes, Mattias Anderson, Dan Harrington, and Mike McLean were all at my table on day three. That was a tough day of poker that ended badly for me. Sigh... next year I could beat 2500 guys and come in the middle of the pack!

  • While being cognizant of the fact that I will NEVER sit at so august a table as that, Dave, and wanting to maintain some semblance of dignity, all I can say is: Huh? You went up against some of the best in the world! I realize it smarts to get busted out, but at least you were there. There is a famous quote by Teddy Roosevelt you would do well to keep in mind for the next time this happens. It is commonly referenced as "the Man in the Arena". Look it up, take it to heart. You WILL feel better.
  • I am not really that bitter. It's just finally settling in as to how close I came... close, very close.
  • Last of my Florence Nightingale posts. Dave: Were you defeated? Or just beaten? A coach I used to play Lacrosse for put it this way: Play your ass off . . . that way, if we lose, the best the other side can claim is a win, but never victory.
