  • That's the worst beat in your life? I don't even consider that a beat at all. Can't get beat if you get outplayed. You got pushed off the better hand. A beat is when you go to the river and get sucked out on, not folding the better hand.

As far as having odds to call, with that flop I don't think a fold is out of order at all.
  • The subject of this thread should be Results Oriented Thinking 101.

    /g2
  • Not much to add, you got outplayed.
It happens and if you think being outplayed is a bad beat you're playing the wrong game.
  • now if you called and a 5 hit on the river, that would be a bad beat. Not the worse, but it would qualify. You got to love a call with a gut shot for $56.
  • You must be living a good life if this is the worst "beat" ever.

Really not sure what to say, AQ is kind of awkward to play out of position vs the types of players you are talking about on a raggy flop. Once you check post flop you give up, so you may want to rethink how you play hands like AQ AK etc out of position vs these types of players.

Calling $60ish of two players with ace high when you have about 6 bucks invested cant be correct, but how you played the hand will set up that frustrating situation, so a couple options

    1) Just check the BB and if you get a good flop fine, if not no big deal just fold. If they both end up going all in and 9 high wins , whatever who cares. 27 off all in preflop is great if you know the flop will be 772 after all. Since you will likely not invent time travel, don't get worked up about could have beens.

    2) Raise to about $35 preflop which forces the play post flop if you think these guys will call with KQ type hands. Not sure I would go this approach with AQ, but I have done it (huge basically all in raises preflop) with AK AA to JJ vs some really really loose bad players.
  • That is beat lol.

[X] Four Jack beats Kings Full every time.
  • ok,....all joke aside, now for seriously WHO IS THE MATH GUY HERE.
i was talking with one of my poker buddy, and this got me thinking (oh..no)
pot is $143 comes to me
the read on villian, air or over pair JJ and under or top pair.
both me and UTG+1 is deep stack. <-Important information
since we already determine UTG+1 is a fish
    why would fish just call?.
    weak TPTK
    Gut draw.
    two over card
    set
even fish will push with over pair,on action flop like that.
    so over pair is out.
now, 3 out of 4 possible holding, cannot take much of heat
    say, i check reraise all-in
UTG+1 fold 75% of time I would get 3:1 pot odds
    50% UTG has two face card, i would win 87.1% = $173.85 - $25.75 = 148.1
50% UTG has JJ and under pair or top pair, I would win 24.75% = $49.40 -150.20= (-100.8)
    +EV 47.3
    25% of time UTG + 1 call
Now this is part where my disagreement with my buddy, on how math should calculate.
he want to use 20% set, 80% draw (because it's a fish)
ya easy to say that, after you see the hole card......*(&*)(*
thurs making my fold -EV, and i was playing too passive, when i should push all-in here.
does he remotely got this right, or should i just cut him off on furture poker analysis
  • The analysis is fueled primarily by the result of the hand.

If you do overcall two all in players with AQ high in future let us know how it goes.
  • good fold man no way you can call there.
