New to site.. Intro post / First post
Hey everyone.... just found this site this week. It is nice to find a site focused on poker in Canada. I live in Ottawa.. I am 43 years old and have been playing poker for about 8 years, but really only seriously the last three years.
I play at PokerStars and FullTilt, although I also have an account at UltimateBet. I play primarily $0.50/$1.00 NL cash games and the occasional tournament. I do play $1/2 at times as well. On Stars I also play some SnGs and have had a nice run on the $16NL lately.
Last year I won my way to the WSOP on Stars. I went to Vegas for the WSOP, however, I decided not to play the main event. Instead I kept $6,000 of the 10k I won and used $4k to buy into other events at the Venetian and Caesars.
I've been to Vegas 3 times over the years, including last year's trip during the WSOP. I plan to go again this year, even if I don't win my way into the main event. I love it down there - so many tourneys and games. I stay at Caesars, but play at several casinos (favourite poker room is Venetian). When in Vegas I play mostly $2/5.
Anyways - nice to join this site and look forward to contributing.
Cheers.

Welcome to the site OttawaPlayer! If you won the package again do you think you would play the main event this year? How come you decided not to?
Just curious, but welcome to the site!

The other factor is planning your entire vacation around the WSOP. I forget the schedule, but the main event is approx 12 or 13 calendar days. I think you have to make it to around Day 5 to make any money. So, you need to be able to dedicate most of your vacation to that one activity.
I think for this year I would probably prefer to go down in June and play 1 of the WSOP 3 day events. But you never know...
