I was playing in a $2/$4 Limit game on Party Poker. Obviously the end result was great, but I'm not sure if I played this correctly.
I was in early position and felt that if I raised, I could knock out a lot of the players behind me which seemed to work. I was re-raised, and simply called. I put the guy on anything from AT to AK or better.
I ended up with a flush, straight, and straight flush draw after the flop.
Obviously my flush draw would be pretty weak, and I was worried that the MP player would get a higher flush, but I decided to bet my hand to make him pay for the draw if that's what he was on. Since he was just calling I put him on a single :spade: to complete his flush (possibly A high) and not a higher pair.
The fourth flush card finally came on the river, but of course it completed my straight flush, and he had no flush draw anyhow.
After the hand I regretted my pre-flop raise. Normally I will call with pocket pairs in Limit hoping to hit a set, but I decided to raise here.
Any thoughts? How do you play a small pocket pair in early position pre-flop?

What I hope for with 66 is to limp in, then have someone in late position raise behind me... that way you're likely to have more people in the pot for 2 bets.
btw - I hate the way your opponent played his hand... Re-raised with a little suited ace behind an EP raiser? And then what did he think he was drawing to on the flop? A third 3? Very sloppy. But that's what makes poker great - players like that.
hork.
Yeah good points. I normally don't like being raised when I limp in, but I see your point here, the potential for cash dollah$ after flopping a set is nice. I like your point about being able to let them go to. Thanks!
Yeah, that's why you value you bet in limit.. hehe I thought for sure he had a high spade...
Yes, I generally want to see the flop for only one bet with the little pairs.

Agreed. I'd like to welcome this guy to my Buddy List.

in early position i'd usually be limping in w/ 9's or lower usually myself (esp. UTG), instead of it being heads up, theres a great possibility you could of gotten 3-6 more bets in pf. had you just limped in, the 3 ppl that acted after you might of limped in and then called the other players raise (b/c w/ most 2-4 players, if its worth 2, its worth 4)
and the other player 3-betting w/ Ac3c......easy......you know why? 2 words............SUITED BABY! (had to do it, sorry)
LOL SOOOOOOOTED!
