Simple Yes/No

I have a simple yes or no question that I would really appreciate if you can answer.

Let's say we have a robot that can do simple poker odd calculations. It takes into account its own cards, number of players in the hand, and position. Nothing else! Also, this robot would only play 10 hands on each table, then it woud get up an go to another table (so other players can never get a read on it). Based on the fact that this robot is only playing based on simple odd calculations (betting/raising when ahead, calling if getting pot/implied odds, and folding otherwise), is that enough to be a consistent profit maker? I understand there is many more points to consider in NL, but in limit hold'em, is that enough?

Thanks in advance for your time.

  • First of all, most sites will not allow you to use a bot and it sounds like you are just trying to create a scam. Will it be consistent?? No, I don't think it would be and I hope you lose all your money to this bot.
  • I suspect that this will be amir_z's first and only post, but my answer is YES. IMHO, there are much more sophisticated programmed bots that are consistently making money from their unsuspecting opponents. A bot does not have to be the best player, but just has to be programmed well enough to have an edge.

  • I know he's an android but whatever. Could you beat him?

  • Simple yes i have mine sitting beside me

    he's physically a bot too
  • My bot is better than your bot. She's cute too....
  • First time poster here...

It would be enough, but you run the risk of being banned from whatever poker site you attempt to use it on. The sites are pretty sophisticated, and I think your pattern would emerge quite quickly. I too hope your bot loses all the money you risk.
  • even if you manage to win, when site confiscate the money, you just lost it all.
so no, bot can't beat that game in the long run.
  • Yeah I have to agree with some of you.. the bot won't be winning you money in the long run

And again you will picked off pretty quickly on most poker sites so I really hope to read about your attempted scam in Bluff... if that is indeed what you are gonna try to do
  • There was bots running on titan. There was a scam running called poker bobby which said you could make huge coin using their bot which was only $50. I played at a table where 3 of the 10 people were of the same consistency, same time frame to make a decision etc. They were bots and badly programmed ones to boot. I could so out play them it was funny. I haven't played there in a while so I don't know if they are still there.

If you want to find out more google poker bobby.
  • I have met Watts and all_aces and I know 'for a fact' that in real life they are both bots.

    stp
  • lol...

Let's walk away from that "scam" shceme... maybe it was an honest post.
There's so many software out there that could do the same thing... let's say you type real real fast, you get dealt your cards, type them in the software, put your position, total # players. it gives you basic stats, fold, raise, check, call, etc.

If someone bet you type it in the software, player #4 bet , player 8 raised, your turn: reraise-fold-call.

Then you type in the flop, turn, river and it tells you what to do.

I don't think that's illegal and even if it was there's no way anyone would be able to detect that...

Now.. let's ask this question again where the bot is that software but it just enters all this data automaticly... would it BE a winning player?

Good point, I never thought of it that way, but that setup sounds awful to have to manually input everything that happens.

What if the bot does it for you.
You have a screen reading bot that understand poker!
